Burlington Vermont Nurses!

Does anyone know what the job market is like in Burlington VT for RN's? Especially at the Fletcher Allen Hospital? I am ready for a change of scenery and I love Vermont! I know the job market is crap everywhere but I am hopeful! :)

Check your PMs. :)

Did you end up at FAHC? I applied to their residency program there, just wondering how you liked it if so :)

Yes I did. I love it. The hospital is great, the people are kind. The residents seem happy here. The area is beautiful. It's fun place to live!

I'm in the applicant pool for FAHC (well now called University of Vermont Medical Center). I applied on Jan 1, got invited to do the video interview so did that 6 weeks ago. Spoke with HR today to find out the next step since it's been 6 wks with no update to find I'm in the applicant pool. She said it can take a few months to possibly get selected. How long til any of you who applied got an offer there?? I live in SC but have an active license in VT and am ready to make the move! Any info at all abt your experience is helpful!

How can you guys afford to live there? I considered working in VT, but the cost of living scared me off.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on here for months!

I would just keep hounding them (in a professional manner of course). Just keep letting them know you are VERY interested in working here and to keep you on their radar. Hope you here some good news soon!

We bought a house. Rent is crazy expensive.

Thanks for the reply! Still in the app pool .. I actually moved to vermont in April and live literally 2 mins down the hill from uvm hospital. I emailed hr to let them know my updated address since I was out of state before..thought I'd be a more viable candidate since I lived here now and am located so incredibly close. I could walk if I wanted... that was over a month ago...I got a reply thanking me for the update so they got it. There's only this month left until the new grad residency ends and they start a new one Aug 1 I believe ...but then I will have had more than 6 months experience as an RN so I can't apply to it again! I feel like I may have better luck just applying to the normal RN positions in august if I don't get selected this month. I have some interviews over in Montpelier, including cvmc, but obviously I want to get on with uvm since it's right up the road and I purposely moved in close to the hospital! Haha. I will maybe try once or twice more this month to remind them I'm interested.
