I can't imagine that unless sharps are exposed there would be much/any greater risk than coming into contact with anything else in the room. The more important question is why aren't the sharps bins emptied/replaced prior to getting to the point of so full they no longer close? Does the facility need to increase the schedule for emptying/replacing? Do the containers need to be larger?

Sometimes these daniels smartsharp containers are not on the best place on the wall and you can bump into them. Are you at risk bumping into a full sharp container that doesn't retract anymore?
