Bsn at western governors

Published

Hello all. Enrolled in wgu for may 1, 2015.still not sure about it. The comments about the rn to bsn vary. I have 10 classes to take and want to complete the program in 12 months

putting in 10 to 15 hours a week. Is this reasonable? Would love to talk to someone by phone with anyone who completed the program. Any comments are appreciated. I read in some reviews that there were a lot of very lengthy papers and others said a few short papers. Some students commented that the courses were very difficult and were impossible to study for and others said the opposite. So.... What's the story with this school because I'm enrolled in 2 schools and have not decided which one to go to. Thank you all for your comments .

I was told that if you choose to complete your BSN through WGU with the intention of finishing an advanced degree at a different school, the BSN earned through WGU is worthless. And the reason for this is, WGU grades on a pass/fail vs a GPA system. I am not sure if there is truth to this, but that is what I have been told. For this reason, I opted not to pursue a BSN from WGU.
This is not true. Many people have been accepted into postgraduate degree programs after having earned the BSN degree at WGU.
FWIW I did the whole program in three months and I used no outside study guides. So they aren't necessary unless that's what you want to do.

As for the advanced degrees, many many many people here and on the facebook group have gone on to MSN programs without any problems. So what you were told is not true. :) If a school requires above a 3.0 GPA you might have issues, but other than that you should be fine. I'd check with a school you are considering for the MSN and ask them! :)

Wow. Only 3 months to complete your BSN? Would you mind sharing how you got through so quickly? I'm hoping to start this June (already submitted app, transcripts, fafsa, etc.). Just looking for a few good tips before I jumo into everything. My goal is to be done by December but the earlier the better :). Feel free to shoot me a pm as well

I have a question regarding WGU. I am also enrolled to begin In May. Has anyone completed to RN to BSN and then transferred to a different school for MSN? In worried about this.

I completed the RN to MSN and was accepted to two different programs for NP.

As others have said, totally not true that the degree is "worthless". While it's true they do a pass/fail grading system, they thoroughly explain their system on the transcript. As others have indicated here, many many people go on to graduate degrees, including NP/CRNA/CNM programs, as well as DNP.

Gergoty have you already received your acceptance letter and did intake interview? I sent transcripts requests to the prior schools I attended last week and filled out my fasfa form the other night. Just not sure how long it will take to hear back from enrollment counselor.

The schools that you were accepted into, were they online or land based schools. Which schools are they?
