Bsn ? Online bsn?

Published

Im half a semester from getting a bachelors of pharmaceutical science. I didnt want to finish because i dont have the $. im 21 and want to pursue nursing, am i too old? Should i get an associates then go for an online bsn? Or apply for the reg BSN? My goal is to eventually go to a masters/doctoral program. What should i do? The rn to bsn online track is accredited and would save me a year. But in terms of getting my masters do nursing master programs care?

In order to get into a RN to BSN program you have to become an RN through a CC or diploma program, I am sure you know that.

Have you thoroughly researched your area??? Have you looked at the job out look? Is it BSN preferred? Are you willing to cast your net in terms of employment? What schools have you looked into because of $$$, according to you?

I think you really need to research this before going into more education; or you can transfer into a nursing program, and get your bachelors or complete your degree, especially if you are almost done, and decide from there.

I am sure there will be additional posters who will provide more safe advice; one's who have a previous degree as well.

Best wishes.

Not trying to be ugly but if you don't have the money to finish getting your bachelors, how are you going to afford nursing school?

If you're really only a half a semester from a bachelor's why wouldn't you just finish and then go for either an accellerated BSN (ABSN) or a bachelor's-in-whatever-to-MSN program? All of these cost money though so I'm not sure how it is that you can afford two years of a nursing program but not a half semester of tuition to finish your bachelor's.

Lol, this is adorable.

I get nursing school for free because of tuition remission

21 is definitely NOT too old. Most people in nursing programs are 30+.

Next, how would RN-BSN be faster than a straight BSN? I agree about finishing your current bachelor's, then doing an aBSN program, though those can be pricey. Do some more research on the field in your area. I also agree that you need to take a look at the job market in your area, because they do vary.

Hold off on the master's until you have a few years of nursing under your belt. It will make you more marketable once you're an APN.
