BSHP Spring 2021 (Baptist School of Health Professions) ADN

Published

Has anyone here applied to Baptist School of Health Professional in SA, TX for Spring 2021 . I just took my TEAS test today. I haven’t seen a thread for this coming semester so I wanted to start one.

I love it! Currently in the 3rd semester. I started this Spring and accelerated through the Summer so I will be graduating in April. It's been kind of crazy because of covid and having clinicals canceled and a lot of IPS for clinical- but finally was able to complete all of my hours so I feel much better LOL They seem to have it figured out now. It was a wild ride in the beginning now, but that is with any school during a pandemic.

I had a 76.7 TEAS,  3.7 GPA and all of my gen Eds complete when I applied (which they do seem to like apparently). Aside from that, I suggest getting them done before you start the program if possible because taking gen Eds on top of nursing courses is extremely stressful from what I have been told by friends who are having to take them. From what I've seen if you have a 75+ TEAS and a high GPA, you will get in. I do know a few people who had 70 or slightly under for TEAS and 3.0 and got waitlisted.

I hope I do get in, it seems like a tough program to get into. I have seen people get in with okay TEAS scores and I feel I need to improve mine but it was sort of too late to register for the TEAS and the admissions lady says its up to me but I don't have to. I didn’t know you can accelerate for the Summer, it seems like you’re finishing it in less than two years thats great!

do you know if a lot of people actually get accepted and don’t enroll? I’m kind of doubtful I’ll get in but I see a chance in getting waitlisted and want to know if theres a good chance I’ll actually be called from the waitlist.

From what they told us, they have ~500 applicants each cycle. No, I think there was only a few people who declined their seats. Or, certain things feel through during the admission process and they had to withdrawal the acceptance. I know someone who got a call in mid December and was offered a spot. Theres always a chance!

Yes, you can accelerate through Summer but they only allow a certain amount of students to do so. It is competitive (1st semester GPA based)and you have to have all of your gen eds complete by March in order to qualify.  They actually highly advise against accelerating LOL Brady comes in and will discourage it, because the workload is extremely difficult and exhausting and you will have ZERO breaks LOL So you start in January and graduate the following April. if you are able to accelerate you complete the program in 16 months with no breaks, unless you count the 2 days between semesters. Which I do not.

Wow that sounds so nerve wracking now LOL. But I guess nursing programs really are built to be competitive, I would think that because of Covid, a lot of people would reconsider their choice of profession but the need for nurses are still going. if I don't get in I will definitely go for their LVN program and just take the long way. I was also thinking of Galen but always hear bad reviews about that school.

The LVN program is great as well! AVOID Galen at all costs LOL

This gives me high hopes! My overall score on my TEAS was a 76.7 and I currently have a 4.0 GPA, I’m currently finishing up the last of my required pre-req(AP2) and by Dec I’ll have all of my Gen ED done too! I’m glad to hear great things about the program. I’m nervous because this is the only one I applied to for Spring also. I feel like I should have given myself more options.

hii Ajem, thanks for telling us more about your experience in the program!!

The anticipation begins! ??

Thank you! How are you liking the program?

Hey y’all, have you gotten any emails at all from admissions yet?

I love it.  It's a great program. Despite the higher tuition the NCLEX pass rates are 10%+ better than SAC.  It's also a nice advantage to do ALL of our clinicals in hospitals affiliated with the school.  The student to professor ratio is nice as well.  I would definitely recommend brushing up on your A&P.
