i am going to start BCC Pines Center in August for my regs in nursing.
I was wondering if any one had any oppinions on which campus is the best for the nursing program itself. Ive heard many different oppinions and i just wanted to see.
thank!

Did you apply for May, Faith? I thought there were some people who either had a 3.1 or lower that got in (they did not have any pts for HOSA). I thought I heard the cutoff for May was around 2.9....but like I said, thats what I "heard".
I'm not sure whats taking them so long, but my friend went into Central and asked, and she was told they are VERY short handed and it could be another 2 weeks (this was a week ago). I know every single person I know that has applied has not heard a thing yet....so no news is good news for now.

Yes I had applied for May but I did not get accepted b/c I had a 2.5 GPA, recieved 1 point, so it came out to be 2.6 GPA; that was the 3rd time I got rejected from BC but i still have :DHOPE:D. One of my friends got accepted for May (but she deffered her seat until fall) and she had a 3.1 GPA and I also heard people with a little lower GPA from that got in at the last minute. But now I have a GPA of 3.1, so I have more of a chance now with 7 points:yeah:. So now im waiting to see if im accepted for Fall 2009 which seems like such a long wait:bugeyes:
Oh ok....I didn't know at what point your 2.6 turned into a 3.1, and was wondering why you didn't get in for May with the 3.1.
It does seem like a really long wait, and from what I remember, January and May both got their responses within 2 weeks.....so it just seems extra long now. Maybe this week we'll start hearing??
Tired of waiting over three weeks for a response from BC. Its the longest wait ever! I know they "say" it can take up to 30 days to get a response, but it hasn't been that long for the January or the May class. Oh well....I'm guessing we'll know something by the end of the week. Not one person has heard anything either, so I know its not just that I haven't heard anything. A friend of mine has a 3.7 GPA, so once she hears something, I'll know BC started contacting people.
Can students at Broward College retake classes and boost up their GPA if they didn't do well the first time they took the class? Students can do that?
Yes! You can retake classes at another school but not at BC if you received a C or better. That is what I did and doing right now at FIU, I am retaking science classes that I received a C in the class such as, A&P1{took this @ FIU spring 09, went from a C to an A },A&p2{in fall 09 if I do not get in BC for fall 09}, and CHM{I'm taking this right now}. Because of that A I went from a GPA of 2.6 to a 3.1
. I hope I helped you a bit.

Im still waiting and so is everyone else. Its been 3 weeks since I turned in my appplication so NOW im just waiting:yawn:waiting:yawn:and wait...
But hopefully I get in since I moved my GPA from a 2.6 to a 3.1 by going to FIU and retaking A&P 1 which I originally had a C in the class and now I am in Chemistry which I had a C in also. But because I have retaken A&P1 (and received an A) I have 7 pts. and before I had 2 pts (BIG Difference). However, if I do not get in I will take A&P 2 in the fall @ FIU which I originally had a C in also. I did ally my pre-reqs @ BCC and just taking the classes I need to bring my GPA up @ FIU. I would apply there but I have to wait until next summer and have to take some classes they require.
But im praying that I do get in for Fall 2009--Im still thinking positive, however, I have to think ahead about "what if" because i applied 2 times to BC and got rejected from BC and from other schools b/c of my GPA was so low which taught me something and I grew a lot mentally knowing that I can only blame myself and no one else b/c my GPA could have been higher if I just had put a little more effort into the sciences like I did the second time around at FIU because I know I can do anything I put my mind to if I really want it and I really want to become a nurse. So if I have to go to FIU to bring my GPA higher, thats just what I have to do and pray I get in and work my hardest in the program.
