i am going to start BCC Pines Center in August for my regs in nursing.

I was wondering if any one had any oppinions on which campus is the best for the nursing program itself. Ive heard many different oppinions and i just wanted to see.

thank!

yes! you can retake classes at another school but not at bc if you received a c or better. that is what i did and doing right now at fiu, i am retaking science classes that i received a c in the class such as, a&p1{took this @ fiu spring 09, went from a c to an a :D},a&p2{in fall 09 if i do not get in bc for fall 09}, and chm{i'm taking this right now}. because of that a i went from a gpa of 2.6 to a 3.1 :D. i hope i helped you a bit.

i thought that you had to take the class over at a private school. i wanted to retake my enc, i got an c wheni ws at mdc in and they told me that i could not go to a state school like fiu fau etc, i would have ad to go to a private school like kieser, barry nova to replace that c. they told me that florida changed the law a few years ago.

where did you intially get the first low grade from, was it a private or state school. if you initally got the low grage at a private school, then i understand.

i took all my classes @ broward community colllege (now bc)

yes, but they told me that you had to retake a C D or F at another school and it had to be PRIVATE not state

well, they accepted grades from FIU and I talked to the people from bc nursing office and they did not say anything about it

Hi i know you posted this last year but Im in the same situation right now and want to retake me AP2 lecture and Lab that i got C's in, did you end up retaking your classes? where did you take them and did BC except them? Everyone at BC has told me different things about retaking classes was hoping you could let me know if you found something that really worked

I am Faith8_88 but changed accounts.

I retook all my sciences that I had C's in to increase my GPA @ FIU. But before I did it I made sure it was not in vain and ask the nursing office if they would accept my grades from FIU which they said was fine but just that I turn in my transcript from FIU with my BC nursing application or send it in as soon as grades were posted from FIU. But I did hear if you u want to retake English it has to be at a private institution but I received an A in english so I did not have to worry about that. Hoped I helped :)

what you wrote could not be farther from the truth----- bcc was a difficult school like all nursing schools out there--- but if an rn is what you are meant to be and want to be then you can make it anywhere.

i am glad that you being a recent bcc grad, and me an old grad '07 can see the truth from the stories posted thru this forum--- so others can see we are not liars!!

i remember one nova student i met during my peds semester-- after i told her that i went to bcc she said "wow, you are gonna be so good, i hear if you make it thru that program you are really good"..... lol

i know this original thread is pretty old, but i wanted to put my two cents in here. i've been lurking around trying to decide between north and central campus and asking everyone their opinions. one of my professors told me that broward was a top rated school in the country. i didn't believe him, came home to look it up and sure enough, community college week analysis of us dept of education ranked bcc as #1 two year institution for 2006 in the nation!! was shocked but proud to see it, as it backs up what many others have told me. broward actually has a very good reputation in the area, not to mention some of the highest nclex pass rates. i think the program is rough, but it just prepares us better to be excellent nurses! if you want to be stroked and led by the nose then you should not go to an accelerated program.

with that said, still looking for comparisons of north vs. central so that i can decide where to take my due punishment. :)

That's awesome. I should check out nova. What's the website where you found that out?0

hi everyone

I hope someone will read this message and maybe give me a little hope. I am an international student at central campust at BC and I finished peds for which I failed lecture. this was the last specialty I had remaining to do. I am a retrack so I am now out... :( I had prof. J whose tests and quizzes do not reflect, for the most part, either the lecture (if you can call it as such) nor the book, she is totally subjective! I read the book and practiced question using 3 Nclex books, I have never studied as hard in my entire life. I failed by 5 pts. Adding to that I got trashed, insulted and humiliated during clinicals, she creates so much fear that we all just wanna stay way from her at all times. It has been the worst few weeks of my entire life. I also know that she did pass student who, like me, did not have the pts to pass, some needed even more points then I did. I spent many years preparing for this program, this is a complete disaster for me....

A retrack is a good thing, rather then be expelled from the porgram overall. I know of one individual who was in the same exact situation, and she was placed on the retrack route, and did amazing the second time around. She is soon to graduate this year. Do not let her fear throw you off track, the best option for you to do is confront the situation by asking her for help during her available office hours. This is a tatic to either make or break you. Ask her and also tell her what you have been doing and your study habits for her class; and have her give you pointers on what you need to do. There must be that little something that your not doing or over-doing. Hopefully, the second time around you will be revived, fresh and ready to conquer the next trimester. GL.
