Broward college nursing program 2020

Published

Hello!

I'm a prospective nursing student for January 2020 at Broward college! I know I am super early but I am just overwhelmed with excitement! I took my HESI test yesterday, and to be honest I wasn't sure I would pass. I gave myself enough time to re-take it again in 30 days and then submit my application. Well.... I studied for 13 days straight and I passed!!! If you'd like some tips, I'd be happy to share. Just let me know. I submitted my application today, so fingers crossed. I know it will be a while but I am happy I finally made it this far. Hope to hear from any other applicants! ?

I got accepted to the BC nursing program in 2009 but got in a bad car accident on the way home from the orientation on North Campus. I ended up needing surgery, rupturing disc in neck, etc. Recovery took some time, so I didn't start school. I ended up getting a terminal Master's degree in something else, publishing a book, and teaching college, but I never stopped wanting to go to nursing school.

I reapplied this semester for January. Got a 97.6 on the HESI, including a 100% in math and vocabulary, and 98% in A&P. Now they won't accept my math class that they accepted in 2009. They say I need a different one.

I can't take the class until January now, and grades won't be in in time to apply for the May program. Super discouraged. I will try to CLEP it, but I only have ten days or so to take the CLEP test and I haven't had college algebra in a while, so I many not be able to prep in time enough to CLEP.

Weird thing is I went through TWO admissions counselors saying everything looked good before I saw the Nursing program counselor who put a halt to everything.

If the first counselor had told me that I needed a different algebra class than the one they previously accepted, I would have had time to sign up for it this semester and would have time to apply for the May program.

Frustrated to say the least.

Hi!! I too applied for Jan 2020. I took the HESI at another institution but completed all of my prereqs at BC. I have a 4.0 on my prereqs and a 3.6 overall GPA. I cant wait to get a response :)

Hi everyone! I also applied for Jan 2020 ? I'm so anxious waiting for the application period to close.

Same here! Gosh the waiting period is the hardest...

I wonder how many applicants there are this semester and what the average GPA was for students admitted into the program last semester. Also, how long once the application period closes. I hear it usually takes 30 days but they may let us know beginning/mid October. ?

I just looked up the "Health Science Program - Admission Criteria" and for August 2019 acceptance, students had between a 2.5(1 point) and 4.0 gpa(16 points). Also, according to the Nursing Program FAQs we should know within 30 days of the end of the application date. I'm just getting anxious because the application date was extended. I wonder if they extended it because of hurricane Dorian or if application levels were low.

What campus are you hoping to go to?

Hi!

i applied for Jan 2020 too! I’m sooo anxious! I’m hoping the extension is bc if the amount of applicants.

The Health admissions advisor said to wait a week after the deadline and then to start checking your email everyday.
I just want to know haha.

Yes! I looked that up late last night too! They do have 30 days to make the final decisions but ndrullard (Admissions representative) said they are shooting for early October.

I live across the street from Central Campus so that's where I hope to go. How about you?

To be fair, we had to extend the app period due to the closure for hurricane Dorian. An executive decision was made by the Nursing Leadership team to extend it until September 27. We do not anticipate that affecting our decision timeline.

Thanks so much for info! ?

Yay early October isn't too far!

Oh wow that's really convenient, hopefully you get Central! I live in Boca so I'm really hoping to get North Campus. I'm actually at Central Campus this semester and it's just a little too far for me to travel when North is closer.
