Broward college nursing program 2020

Published

Hello!

I'm a prospective nursing student for January 2020 at Broward college! I know I am super early but I am just overwhelmed with excitement! I took my HESI test yesterday, and to be honest I wasn't sure I would pass. I gave myself enough time to re-take it again in 30 days and then submit my application. Well.... I studied for 13 days straight and I passed!!! If you'd like some tips, I'd be happy to share. Just let me know. I submitted my application today, so fingers crossed. I know it will be a while but I am happy I finally made it this far. Hope to hear from any other applicants! ?

Hi, what sections did you have to take? I have to take all but physics and hoping to take it at the end of the month. Could you go over what to focus on in the sections that you took? Thanks!!?

Of course!

Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Anatomy and Physiology and Math. My cumulative score was 86.80%. I feel like I could've done better I second guessed myself few times and rushed towards the end, even though I had an hour left! Make sure to take your time.

I was really worried about the A&P section, since it's a been a couple of years since taking the classes. I purchased and downloaded an A&P study guide from readyforthehesi.org. It was a life saver! If you'd like me to send it to you, send me an email. I also used the pocket prep app and paid the $15 for all access. WORTH IT! I couldn't have done it without the two!

I took A&P first! 30 questions. It's pretty general, maybe one or two more specific questions.

Make sure to study the joints (synovial, ball socket, hinge, flexors and extensors), anatomical positions and planes (superior, inferior, distal, proximal). Learn your bones (radius and ulna), and muscles (esp the legs and the longest muscle in the body). Ear structure. The heart (thickest wall). Red blood cells and where they are produced. Learn what the organelles in a cell do. Mitosis and Meiosis (not too specific). Digestive System (when does digestion begin) also the hormones in the endocrine system. The reproductive system (male urethra), urinary system. Like I said it's very general and everything was on the study guide I mentioned. So let me know if you'd like me to send.

Math 55 questions:

A lot of fractions, ratios and percentages. Pretty easy. I was worried about the word problems but honestly, the questions were not tough. Know your conversions (ounces, cups, pints, gallons, kilograms, grams). I read another blog post to write your conversions down right before starting the test as soon as you get your scrap paper. I did that and it helped. I didn't get any roman numeral questions. A few solve for x questions. For math I mostly used youtube (math dude) vids and pocket prep.

Vocab. 55 questions:

This girls quizlet flashcards has most of the words on the test! So just study them and you wild fine. Here is the Link:

Grammer: 55 questions.

I overstudied for grammar... Very basic! I used pocket prep and google.

Reading Comprehension: 55 questions.

I thought the passages would be longer but no, pretty basic! There's really no way of studying for this one. Just take your time.

Thank you so much for this!! I really appreciate it it’ll be so helpful! I’d love if you could send those resources to me, [email protected]. I hope you get into your program! Thanks

I believe my science GPA is 3.4 and overall 3.7 I'll have to double check it. Hopefully, it's good enough to get accepted...

And yes that's good enough you should try applying for Miami Dade as well

I thought of Miami Dade but I need like 3 more prerequisites. I'm hoping Broward works out because I literally live across the street from Central. I think Palm Beach State would be my second option if any.

Sent! Did you apply from Broward??
