Broward College Nursing Program January 2017

Published

Hello to all the future Applicants for the January 17' nursing program. I know it's really early and August admission process hasn't been completed yet but I couldn't help my self. I'm so anxious to get in the program it took me a long time to get to this point. I have completed all the pre reqs that have an affect on your gpa and I have a 3.0. I recently just passed the Hesi for the second try with a 76% in anatomy, 92% in math and 80% in the other 3 sections. I'm in MGF1106 right now grades will post early Aug. so I'm going to turn in the Application right after that. I hope this forum can be used for all us to get through this waiting process together.

I wanted to know has anybody heard stories that hospitals will no longer hire nurses with an associates degree? Or if a nurse with an Associates degree is hired it will be as if your an lpn and get lpn pay like $13 hr?

I was looking at the career sections of the hospitals in Broward last week and most of them hire associates. I have a few friends that just graduated with an associates and were hired by Broward Health hospitals. I don't remember which hospitals required a bachelors... holy cross I think. Not sure who else.

oh ok. Someone recently told me that Broward health was not going to hire nurses with associates, but with a high shortage of nurses why would they not hire a nurse with an associates it's crazy. Nobody knows the reason why an individual couldn't go the route of a bachelors. I've seen a few ppl as well just graduate from BC get jobs at Broward health. Idk what's for you is for you I believe. There are so many avenues for a nurse. So I'm hoping for the best for our future jobs

Hi, I am hoping to apply to the January nursing program. I take the HESI next Saturday. I have been studying on and off for the last few months and really cracked down these last 2 weeks, was wondering if anyone can give me tips on what to expect on the test? I would say my weakest links are in grammar and anatomy, more so in grammar. Thank you in advance and good luck to everyone!

For the grammar section, you're given a sentence. The choices are different parts of the sentence. You have to choose which part makes the sentence incorrect. There were a lot of silly ones like the incorrect use of is/are or words like more and most. It also had 4 or 5 sentences that were only slightly different and you had to pick the one that was grammatically correct.

For example:

A. The nervous student tapped his foot impatiently under his desk.

B. The nervous student did tap his foot with impatience under his desk.

C. The nervous student tapped his foot impatient under his desk.

D. The nervous student impatient did tap his foot under the desk.

Just read all questions and sentences before answering, eliminate all obvious wrong answers, then reread the answers that are left.

As for the anatomy, it was all over the place. I don't know how many different versions of the Hesi BC uses but all the questions I had were pretty basic. For example... In what part of the body would you find the pectoralis major muscle?

I'm not going to say whether the test was easy or not because the difficulty of something is subjective. Everyone is different. All you can do is study and you've been doing that  Good Luck!!

I think it's by 2018 or 2020 hospitals would like for their nurses to have their Bsn's or to be in school for their BSN. My friend who just graduated from BC told me that but u can't remember if it's 2018 or 2020 for sure.

For the people who were alternates for August, does your application term on the limited access page still say 20171 as well?

Hey Mona yes mine still says that as well as alternate seat pending I don't think it will update til like September for it to say it's on review and all that

Oh ok. Because I wasn't sure if we have to go back to health admission to get them updated or if Nichole does it once it's time to review applications again.
