Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!
I started May 2013. I'm in ortho/neuro right now and I retracked Peds this summer. We lost a lot. Out of the 45 LPNs who started out with me, only 4 made it to trends (graduation would've been this December). Many run for the hills (withdraw) or fail. First semester is killer: Process 1 with clinical lab, math, and Pharm. Study your behind off. Not kidding. Nothing throws you into a deeper state of depression as taking this program lightly and retracking. You guys are almost there! :)
If you don't mind can you tell us what made you have to retrack peds? So we all don't make the same mistake lol

The instructor. I don't usually blame the professors, but this one, I do. Read every section in her syllabus, look at charts and pictures. Her questions weren't realistic and she believes her rationales are always correct. She'll put subjects on her quizzes that haven't been lectured on until after the quiz. So basically, if she went over immunizations, diseases, and basic blood chemistry and her syllabus says lecture on sickle cell anemia is after the quiz, study sickle cell anemia! It'll be on the quiz!
And retracking had its perks. I knew all her tricks and was able to warn my classmates on time. We all passed. :)
We were like oil and water, including during clinicals. Ugh...
That's the other brand of shoes I was thinking about! Good! Wow that's a big difference 45 down to 4! I'm really ready to get into this next chapter in my life. Since I have until May (cause I didn't make it in time for January) I'm gonna save up my money cause I plan on quitting my job and be 100% committed to the first couple of semesters. Any advice on when someone can maybe work a part time job during the program? I don't want to touch my IRA unless i absolutely have to so I may need to atleast get a part time at one point during the program

I work part time as a home health nurse currently. Then again, I'm in ortho. My best friend works full time as an LPN as well and has worked full time ever since I met her in Process. A lot have quit their jobs, a lot also retained their jobs. Most quit during cardio though. It's possible to work in the program.
Hardest classes: Process 1 and 2 with clinical labs (demos too )
Gigu
Psych (unless you like that subject)
Peds
Cardio
Easier classes: OB
Ortho/neuro
Trends
Make school top priority. If you have family, ask for help, if possible.
Books are costly. Supplies are costly.
Trends will have you spend money out your hooha. Uniform, cap, pin, nursing cap, gown, etc.

Oh wow! Thanks for the heads up. I know it's possible to work but I currently work a 9-5 Mon to Fri job at a very stressful cardiology office which is why I'm quitting. I don't want to end up failing cause of this job. I'm ready to move forward to my future career. I luckily have a good support : my live in boyfriend and my mom and brother (who is helping me financially to eliminate some bills prior to starting program) thanks for the advice!
