Broward College Nursing January 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! :D if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!

can someone please help me here

I want to know what things I need to do. I'm done with the prereqs in may. Hopefully, my gpa will be 3.5 at least.

What else do I need to do? I have read that I can take the health core class online at sheridan tech

but when I read the BC nursing faq, it says that I need more things such as HSC certificates, people say that you have to get all of these done before handing in application, but I also read here that if you take Health core at sheridan it cover many certificates required by BC? can someone please guide me step by step on what I exactly need to do?

On top of that, I will have to take that hesi exam

since I will be finished with prereqs in may, for what term can I apply to? where are the application dates for 2012?

The more I read the more discouraged I get about applying and being in this program, like is made for you to fail.

Admission Information

Here are the dates. You cannot apply until you have the grades for all your classes. As far as the HSC courses. I did them before I applied to the program. I did them through broward college. The HESI you should be completed soon as well. From the looked of it if you can get the HESI done before may. Then you can apply for August admission. The program is hard, but if you truly want to be a nurse and have the motivation and drive to do what it takes, then you will succeed. You just have to discipline yourself to study and make the time. Best of Luck

does the hcp course at sheridan, covers many of the hsc courses?

I will be done with my AA in may, and then I will have no degree/major. If I apply for the program and get accepted, will I have a major once again and receive financial aid?

once you are done with AA, I think you can still take classes at BC (not sure) but you cannot longer receive financial aid, since you have no degree anymore.

That is my problem, how or where am I going to take those HSC course.

you may want to talk to the health science department or the financial aid office. I know they can be morons sometimes, but they can probably give you the best answer

hi natalia7881 i haven't started yet, which campus did you attend? and i deferred till august? i still am in the question asking phase. and were you amongst the students who passed? was nur1020 process 1 and what month did you start the program?

Can anyone shed some light on the new admission procedure for 2013 that was possibly discussed during your orientation? If you know what it may entails, please inform. Thanks.

Hello im planning on attending the August 2012 generic group Im done with all of my pre-requires I have a (3.65) gpa I took my hesi exam reading(86%) grammar(84%) vocabulary(78%) math(82%) and a&p(92%) I also was a part of HOSA in high school do I have a good chance of getting in?

@dream61792, with a gpa of 3.65, HOSA and a fairly good Hesi score, I think you have a good chance of being accepted. However make sure that you have done, Microbiology, and required Humanities,Social/behavioral Science,Writing classes.
While you may be accepted to do your ASN you will need to have these classes completed to enroll in your final semester and graduate. At our (May 2012 students) pre-admission meeting, anyone who had not completed these classes was strongly advised to defer their seat as there would not be time to do them once in the program and you would not want to withdraw from the program with 1 semester left to go complete them.

Hi guys

Today I went in apply Again for the nursing program at central( this is my third time applying). I turned in my application but tonight I see my status says " Pre admission". What s that mean ? The first 2 times I applied It said " application in review" and later changed to " not accepted" . I am really confuse. Cause the application period just started and won't close until may 15, 2012. It s a little too early to show Pre admission. Is there anyone out there that having the same status as me ?

Hi guys. I think preadmission means you're pretty much accepted. No one knows how this program is set up as far as getting acepted etc. A lot of people will defer..as May is slightly accelerated...and many who have been waiting since January will be ahead of you for May. The nursing process is very hard...they have yous et up for quite a ride. Those with kids, jobs etc. will suffer immensely but it can be done. I failed the lecture part, passed clinicals and am finishing up pharm. I have 4 kids and do not work. Could I have passed-yes I could have if I had more time to myself to study...but I do not regret anything thus far...all things happen for a reason..and I am super ready and motivated for second time around as well as wiser. I will say though, I am unhappy about a few things about this program...but at the same time I feel they have their reasons and must know something we don't. Most friends I know that go to FAU, or other schools seem happier, and are more successful. BCC really does emphasize the discipline part..but at times there is unclarity-Central more so specifically. Again, I don't want to put out excuses...but I felt quite unaware a lot of times...maybe because I didn't have friends from the program to inform me as many of my peers seem to...also the juggling of my life, kids and the new hours-plus studying efficiently. Advice I would love to give you guys to be successful and ahead of the game: Your first exam sets the mood and score for the rest of the tests...you don't realize how important it is, because you are used to winging it at times in regular classes...you can't do that in program. If you fail the second time..just withdraw. You can only fail twice in entire program. The studying...you need to use the powerpoints/modules/your notes/practice tests, read ahead, stay on top of things...don't cram, exercise all of the concepts..its all about the tests! There are no extra points or assignments. Trust me the uniforms, shoes, books are the least of your worries. If you are getting the books-get all of them and get them on Amazon. Tell your friends, family now about what is to come...get rid of FB, partying, BF/GF now..because you will not have a life! My kids suffered, they had school problems, pottying problems, behavior problems...they tell you this at a meeting before your first test. Listent to what theya re telling you. You get stuck in the glory..."yeahh nursing program..yeah ID's and uniforms...yeahhh...but what is ahead is a compelte transformation and it entails how bad you want this and what you are willing to sacrifice for it. Good Luck Friends.

Third time is a charm...This may indicate that you will get accepted! Best of Luck!

Hi

I would like to know what are the classes that we suppose to take with the process 1. I spoke to the health science and they said we will register for 6 classes the first nursing process class. So I was wondering what are those classes ?
