Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)
Question about childcare... I am still figuring out what to do with my 3 year old this August. Does anyone know the active school days or the length of the school day so I can plan. Do I put her in school 3 half days, 3 full days or really try for 5 half or full days.... I am also applying for the BC North Childcare, but told she'll be in a waiting list. Any thoughts?
If you're not applying for August check with an advisor because requirements will be changing as of Jan 2013.
Would you happen to know what the change will entail? Is this change for the spring 2013 class or will the change take place spring 2013 and thereafter? I just hope it’s nothing to major…
I'm not sure what the exact changes are but at the pre-addmissions meeting, we were told that normally we would have been allowed to defer for up to a year, meaning we could have deferred to August 2012, jan 2013 or may 2013, but this time around we could only defer to August. We were strongly advised not to wait until Jan 2013 as big changes were coming. I'm thinking they are increasing the number of pre-reqs. Maybe adding Micro and other general education classes. I heard talk of many hospitals in various states not being willing to hire ASN nurses or requiring them to get their BSN within a short period of time after being hired, so maybe they are thinking of phasing out the asn and making the bsn the standard......IDK
@sugarbianca: okay, that's good to know. i personally hope that it's nothing too major, as for the bsn instead of the asn that will be good. but the process will be difficult. thanks for sharing and good luck in nursing school...
@sugarbianca: can you please share your course schedule? how many days per week did you attend class and what were the hours when you started? thanks.
@Juliansmom2011 , Sorry, I deferred to august so I didn't get the class schedule email. I know what subjects are supposed to be taken but I have no details on class times and the length of classes.

Oh okay.
I just want to be sure that i heard correctly we don't have to reapply to the program if we defer, we just email them with when we want to start and we will go from there again, correct? And we email cmili or whomever in the nursing department in order to defer? I am just dotting my "I"'s and crossing my "T"s. thank you

I'm not sure about the Sheridan tech info, I did my HCP and HSC certs at BC. The deadline for August is May 15th and you need to have HCP0001 and all your pre-req grades before you apply, the other health certifications you can do after you get accepted. If you don't have micro yet, you should do it before you apply because even if it is not a pre-req to apply it is needed to graduate from the program start you last semester. Even if you get accepted without it they will ask you to defer to do it because you will not have time to do it while you're in the program.
