Broward college May 2012

Published

Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

I deferred until August. North campus is so close to me that the money I save in gas alone will be worth it, especially since I will be unemployed. Good luck everyone!

......and what do YOU think after orientation 2baG8nurse?:clown:

FYI- If you want it bad enough, it doesn't matter which campus you attend as long as you are determined and committed to make it happen. I currently go to Central campus and yes, it is hard..... But I didn't expect an easy road. Everyone says horrible things about Central campus, but I find that it is what you make it. So far, I'm really enjoying my experience. I just passed Process I and will be starting Process II next week. It's definitely a lot of studying and the motto is "C means continue". I'm just trying to give it to you all in the realist way I can. Please don't expect to ace these classes! And please don't expect to pass these classes if you aren't really putting in hours upon hours of studying. It's completely different from memorization. Trust me! Yes, it is hard but yes you can do it! Oh, and working full time during the beginning of this program is not going to cut it..... Unless you are a genius! I quit my job and Im happy I did because I barely have time to sleep let alone work! If anyone has any questions I will try my best to help you out! Lol.... Hope I didn't scare any.... That was not my motive!

Can't scare me lol although I am a little nervous starting in may since process 1 and 2 are each crammed into 6 weeks rather than the normal 8..but I plan on quitting my job and studying my butt off!

It was a lot of information to be taken in.....lol, I will be starting in May at South Campus even though i wanted to attend North. I really don't believe the campus makes a difference just the drive does and i am willing to take that drive. I believe a lot of students will be defering and May is always a smaller group so there would be less students in the classroom, which can be a positive thing :). So excited to start and get it over with!

I differed my seat. I'm going to start in August. I need to get Micro out the way. I also need to prepare myself for no income. I make 38k a year which may not be huge, but it pays the bill.

I'm just very confused how I'm going to be able to take out loans if they won't give me any until I leave my job, and I won't leave my job until I start the program. So I'm in a catch 22 and the last thing I want to do is take out a private loan from Sallie Mae or a similar company. I did that a long time ago when I went to ITT tech and it was the worst mistake I ever made. It took me 8 years to repay my debts. I'm finally debt free and it looks like I'm going right back into debt.

Does anybody here have experience with living off loans? The good thing is that I'm living with my girlfriend and she will be paying the rent once I leave my job, but she doesn't make very much so it's going to be hard. This is my number one concern and I'm hoping that someone with similar experience has some insight for me.

Today, God’s message for you is to breathe deeply and to know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at this moment. Pull the life-giving fresh air of God’s grace into your lungs and move forward with all the knowledge of one who knows exactly where they stand in this universe.

This is something very encouraging that I read in this forum someplace and I loved it,

I just wanted to share it with all of you::loveya:

ON BEING A CHAMPION

by Mattie J.T. Stepanek

A Champion is a winner, A Hero..... Someone who never gives up even when the going gets rough.

A Champion is a member of A winning team.... Someone who overcomes challenges even when it requires creative solutions.

A Champion is an optimist, A Hopeful Spirit.... Someone who plays the game, even when the game is called life.

There can be a champion in each of us, If we live as a winner, If we live as a member of the team,

IF we live with a hopeful spirit, for life.

Cheers!:yeah:

Anyone not deferring? If no, which campus will you be attending?

I'm not deffering. I'm thinking of going to the Central campus if I get all the classes I want; however, I really wanted to work with Memorial Hospital :-(

:saint:Today, God’s message for you is to rise today to the challenge set before you.

Know that each obstacle represents a lesson to be learned.

These are the moments, which shape who you are.

You may choose to endure and overcome, or to become overcome yourself. :nurse:

can someone please help me here

I want to know what things I need to do. I'm done with the prereqs in may. Hopefully, my gpa will be 3.5 at least.

What else do I need to do? I have read that I can take the health core class online at sheridan tech

but when I read the BC nursing faq, it says that I need more things such as HSC certificates, people say that you have to get all of these done before handing in application, but I also read here that if you take Health core at sheridan it cover many certificates required by BC? can someone please guide me step by step on what I exactly need to do?

On top of that, I will have to take that hesi exam

since I will be finished with prereqs in may, for what term can I apply to? where are the application dates for 2012?

The more I read the more discouraged I get about applying and being in this program, like is made for you to fail.
