Broward college May 2012

Published

Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

Does anyone know when we have to take the drug test? Um.... I might of smoked a few weeks ago...

Wow thats some news to me ***...not that i was going to North anyway but they only have the 1 professor? What kinda bullstuff is that? We get all the drug paperwork on March 1st and we have to sign a contract upon acceptance into the program. And does any one know which hospitals that each campus go to for clinicals.

so south is having a May start this year now?

Looks like it. The person I spoke to at the front desk said either central or south. Please don't just take my word for it, for those of us interested in north, I would definitely call. Maybe with persistence this will get straightened out. It's really not fair to force students to go to a school out of there area or defer to a later semester. What if something, God forbid, happened midsemester... would they halt the program? I'm hoping there is a back up professor. I guess we will know more next week. But, I'm definitely calling again tomorrow to see if this is really the case. I'm crossing my fingers that the person I spoke to at the health science admissions office was wrong.

I called the Health Admissions Office yesterday too and was told the same information. North campus will NOT be available for May start. South and Central campuses are our choices. I am also pretty upset about this for the same reason/concern that you have. What if something happened and the professor could not teach... The program just shuts down and relocates us???? Not to mention that they are not even giving us the opportunity after the summer term to transfer (I asked) which I think should be allowed since this is not by our choice. Right now it is looking like I will probably have to defer my seat to August because I really don't think I want to go anywhere else. I'm trying to look at it from a positive point of view, enjoy the summer while we can because once we start nursing school there will be no time for much of anything else.

As disappointing as it might be, look at it on the bright side, if you are forced to defer, at least you get the spend the summer knowing that you are in, get all your shots and ceu's done way in advance and buy your books early to start reading for August. My main reason for wanting to defer is that I wanted a little more time to get ready. I'm doing micro now and I didn't want to have to be running around doing stuff to start classes in may.

I remember the schedule saying that not all campuses will have the program in May. North is that campus.

Admission Information

When I filled out the application on November 1st, I remember they told me that the North campus doesn't participate in May term. It's something they knew way in advance.

I called today and they told me the same thing only South and Central will be accepting. I really don't want to defer, I am leaving it in God's hand, I believe everything happens for a reason, I might go to south even though I live North and wanted to go to North because they had better reviews, I am looking forward to doing my clinicals in the Memorial Hospitals (I always wanted to work for the memorial healthcare system) that's the only positive thing for me right now. I will spend the rest of my weekend thinking and researching..... Good luck to all as we try to make a decision.

Ughhhh! I planned on going to North. I don't know what to do now. If I knew I would definitely get in for August I would defer, but what if I don't? That would be horrible. I would rather do central than nothing...darn it!

They always say that for the May Term, and the Campuses vary each year, for the past year or 2 it has been North only. On the most recent health science flyer they said that it was north and central http://www.broward.edu/healthsciences/Supporting Content/Pre Requisite Requirements.pdf

Anyone not deferring? If no, which campus will you be attending?

Hey Guys! Getting ready for the Orientation day?:hrnsmlys:
