Hello Everyone! I am applying for FAU's Traditional BSN program. Could someone please provide me with some study tips for taking the TEAS V? I have only taken the HESI and have heard horror stories about the TEAS. Feel free to tell me about your experience and what you felt really helped you achieve a competitive score. Any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thank you in advance! :)

You can wear scrubs to class and clinical. I can't speak for any other campus except North, but as long as you are in uniform it doesn't matter. I never bought any polos nor do I plan on it since I have 4 sets of scrubs and it has been more than enough to get me through the week.

You won't need it so I wouldn't bother purchasing it. To be honest, there are a lot of books that you will not use so I wouldn't purchase anything till orientation or till you are actually attending class. I did well without half of the required books and whatever I did need (they will let you know for certain assignments) I was able to purchase from upper class students for very cheap, Amazon, or the bookstore.

You must take the break they schedule for you because all of the classes are on a track. For example, certain classes are not offered during the 1st half of the summer semester so your break would be during those 6 weeks and then you would continue your track beginning the 2nd half of the summer or vice versa.

Yes, that's most likely what happened. Not the first time either. I just wanted to let everyone know so they're not waiting around for emails regarding fall registration.

You will be given a half of a semester break during the program. Of course this depends on your track, when you start the program and if you don't have to re-track and take classes during your break.

Hi Butterfly! This is an email for upperclassmen entering specialities which is after GIGU. You most likely received this email in error. The only schedule anyone should be concerned about is for the summer term, which I believe you all have already registered. Once you are in Process 2 lecture & lab you will receive information regarding fall registration for GIGU and specialities. Specialities are not guaranteed but they will try to honor your order preference in completing them. I hope I cleared some of this confusion up for you. :)

Yes you can. They don't care (at least at North) what type of book you are using as long as you are reading and understanding the concept of the material. Some people even used the 7th ed of Perry & Potter and were just fine.

I would definitely tell you to consider to Nova before Chamberlain to be honest. Chamberlain is more money and the reputation is not solid compared to other private/public nursing programs. Also, Nova accepts twice a year and I believe they will let you submit your application as long as you are in the process of completing all the required pre-reqs. However, the pre-req classes must be fully completed by their cut off date (you would need to clarify with the school). I did not apply to Nova because I was accepted into Broward's program last May. As for the financial situation of getting through nursing school... You're going to have to get a part-time weekend or evening job that is flexible or take out living loans. Broward is a full-time day program so you would have the same problem as Chamberlain when it comes to your schedule. I believe Miami-Dade is one of the few schools that offer a part-time RN program so you may want to check with them. Nursing school is very rigorous and it is extremely difficult to work at all during school. I understand your concerns though because I also have a child so taking out living loans was the route I took. And most schools including Broward offer the RN-BSN track. The only schools that offer the straight BSN programs are universities at the moment. PBCC, BC, and MD are all bridge programs so you must complete an AS program first in order to complete their BSN bridge programs.

Hi Yankeesgirl907... I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Have you thought about Nova? I don't think they require an entrance exam, but they do require additional classes. Nova was my back up school if I didn't get accepted into BC the first time around. I know it's very pricey, but if this is what you want than you may want to consider other schools in the mean time. You could take the pre-reqs for other nursing schools while you wait to retake the HESI so you're not just letting time pass by. Not to mention these classes will not be a waste because they are the same requirements you would eventually have to complete in order to do your BSN. Just a thought... I really hope you feel better soon!

Aww... That's not right. They should of done that when they updated the new requirements. At least you tried though. There's never anything wrong with trying. I will keep in touch as much as possible and thanks for your support all along! Best of luck to you too! :)

You're very welcome and I hope you can retake that test! If the dean doesn't get back to you then I would say you can probably ask the central campus testing center instructor that is in charge of scheduling. I think you still have a shot! :)
