Broward college May 2012

Published

Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

I had 9pts and I got a 88.8% onthe HESI.

I sopke to someone in the office and she mentioned that usually when there are a large number of applicants the deciding factor is whether or not you took Mircobiology.

@lovelyb09 you should get that checked out for sure ASAP because no one will he there on Friday. They are opened Mon-Thurs. My status actually changed the same day I turned my paperwork in.

de you

and if you haven't taken Micro and you haven't heard thiings that were to good about the professors there, take it at another institution and xfer it over.

Well if Micro really is a big deciding factor I'm done for cause I'm taking Micro right now. Ugh.... One more thing to stress over...lol. The professor I have is amazing...so knowledgeable, very nice & strick, not to mention hard, but fair. I hope I do well in his courses. @ Joeane - did you take micro already?

@Hope2bPicuRN Not neccessarily lets say if people defer their enrollment, or they have enough seats you will be fine. At BC Micro is not necessary to get into the program it just gives you an upper hand in certain situation. Generally it's something that you will have to eventually take if you are looking to get your BSN. You should be ok. She also told me that the number of seats offered for May might be around 175

Hope2bPicuRn, don't worry about it, my 4 friends who started this Jan were all taking Micro last semester and they got it. You only need micro to graduate with your ADN but I know of people who started the program in Aug. without micro and did micro during their first summer off. Micro is sometimes used as a tie breaker after considering points and GPA.

Thanks! I really appreciate the reassurance from you all. I'm just paranoid...I guess. I know it's not a requirement, but also know it does look better if you have already taken it. My ultimate goal is to obtain my master's so I have a lot more requirements to fulfill (but obviously way into the future). Since I'm applying to Nova as well I needed to take stats, sociology, and human development too before micro.

Anyone else applying to other schools?

I called and called for the health science admissions and there was no answer! I'm more than mad right now. My application status never changed, I payed the fee, and the lady said my status would be updated by the end of the week. And if they are closed on Fridays, then there is no way it's going to change tomorrow. So I won't even know if they lost of did something with my application til after the deadline. :banghead:

Oh no!!! Hopefully there is nothing wrong and they are just "slow" at entering your info for whatever reason. Stay positive... Do you remember who you gave the application to? Did they give you anything in return? I'm thinking that if there is any issue they will be able to resolve it since you did turn in your application on time. Keep us posted after you chew them out on Monday. :nono:

Hi just like all of you i am now waiting to see what happens I got an 88% overall on the hesi and was awarded 13 points. I am currently taking micro (yuck) but I am anxious. I wish every 1 the best of prayers, good vibes and wishes. I want to attend Central, I would love to go to north but as i live in Hollywood that commute would be too far and i work in miami. So GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!! AND WHAT CAMPUSES ARE U GUYS TRYING TO ATTEND? Oh I am afraid of starting in May because Process 1 in combination with pharm and clinicals i heard was a challenge but it is a challenge I am willing to fight and win!!! Anywayz PPLZ I AM PROUD OF US AND I HOPE THE BEST FOR EVERY ONE!

Hello Nayenay40!

Congrats on your points & Hesi score! I am also taking Micro right now so at least its keeping me somewhat distracted as we wait for our letters. I am a North campus hopeful and am also very nervous about starting in May for the same reasons you have just said. Honestly, I am terrified of the whole program...lol. I think part of that is from all the negative comments that I read and hear about. I really try not to focus on all that, but I would be lying if I said it didn't bother me one bit. Hoping and praying its not as bad as people say it is.

I wish you and everyone else the best of luck!!!!

Hi Nayenay40

I too am nervous and anxious but won't let my fears get the best of me, I am just trying to stay positive. I know we will do great when we get in we just have to stay focus and study hard.

Good luck to us all!!!!!! waiting for that day! :)
