Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.
My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.
My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0
Hi,I understand microbiology is needed to graduate, however, is it a requirement to apply like API/II and math? I'm currently taking APII, and I plan to take statistics, and pharm in the summer -- because I would rather take microbiology in the Fall. However, I'm applying for Spring '17. I have a 4.0 GPA. Do I have a good chance of being accepted with API/II, & statistics... or should I just take microbiology in the summer and leave pharm for fall?
The only classes that go towards your GPA to be considered is both anatomys, their labs and Enc1101. You just need to pass math as a pre req but it doesn't go towards the GPA. Micro is a graduation requirement but it's recommended you do it before the program because the program is tough as it is and micro is a hard subject. You don't need pharmacology classes for the program btw. You take the class in the program I believe. I would do math and micro in the summer and apply for January 2017 if I were you. If you do micro in the fall by the time you finish I don't think they will even have seats for January 2017 program. The acceptance emails go out mid September so it seems applications are due in August.

Microbiology is NOT Required to apply for the Nursing Program. The student can take micro in the fall and apply for the January term. It does not affect their chances of being accepted into the program, nor should they wait until they finish the course to apply.
Pharmacology is taken during the first semester of the RN program. You cannot take it prior but you will take the course while enrolled in the RN program.
Once the student is done with ENC1101, BSC2085 and lab, BSC2086 and lab, and MAC1105 or higher, as well as passed the HESI exam with a 75% or higher on each section, They are eligible to apply.
We recommend turning in applications for the January 2017 term by September 15, 2016.

Ahh I see where I got confused. Got it.
Hi guys! So how exactly are seats chosen? I'll be turning in my application for the Fall term in two weeks and I emailed one of the assistant deans and was told they do not use the point system anymore. I'm a little confused and would like to know what to expect once I turn in my application! Thanks!

Micro is not required to apply, however, it is encouraged that you take it before you start the RN Program. You cannot take Pharmacology until you are accepted into the RN program.
