Anyone Applying to the fall 2020 Nursing program at broward college , that is getting ready to take or have taken the HESI ?
@ndrullard Thank you for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate your honesty. I recognize how hard it must be for faculty to make the decisions for fall classes at the moment since these times are so uncertain. I will keep checking the link you provided for updates. I have always known that excellent nursing programs like this one are very competitive to get into. I guess the comment discouraged me because I have worked very hard for a long time and was disappointed to see that maybe you will accept less applicants this year. I was confident with my application before knowing that it may be possible not all 225 students will be able to get in and it won't be because they are not qualified, but because of the virus. I know this is out of your control and that we have to adjust to what is happening to the world. Again thank you so much for answering

Email me and we can discuss your application points, etc. privately. I wouldn't mind looking into it and being able to give you some advice.
The number I provided was an average; Some semesters are less and some semesters may be more.
I am always here to help! ?
Hi everyone, I did my HESI but I didn’t pass the math section. My goal was to get into the nursing program in August. I plan to do it again in June because I have to wait the 30 days. I am going to retake it again and pass but I know the deadline is soon. Is there anyway I can still get into the program?

Hey, you should reach out to [Staff] via email about retaking the test. With us having to wait due to covid19, you may not have to wait that long. IDK how long ago you took the test, or if there are even dates available before the 30th, but I would email her to be sure. All the best to you ?

I have always been honest with my applicants so here it is:
The Nursing program has always been competitive. Not everyone gets in. That is why it is limited access. On an average semester, I can receive 400+ applications; in the 10 years I have been at BC, we have never taken 400 students into the RN program in one semester, so even before COVID-19, not everyone was accepted. Has there been a semester where everyone who has applied has been accepted? Sure, but it is not the normal outcome.
The reality of our world today is that we do have to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of students we take in each semester may be affected by that. Does it mean its set in stone? No. Did I say it would be half the amount of students? No. It all depends on the number of applicants, strength of the pool, and honestly, whether or not the hospitals are allowing Nursing students in for clinical. We are not living in normal times right now.
Right now, the fate of the Fall classes, whether remote or in person, is being discussed. You can monitor the website for any updates (www.broward.edu/coronavirus). The nursing department is working very hard to make sure everyone who enters are program receives the training and education they need to be able to move on, graduate, and pass the NCLEX.
If you want to discuss it further, I am always willing to discuss. You can email me at [email protected].
