Broward College August 2010

Published

Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)

IMO they should have decided what to do with the results before they made the test mandatory. It's a little late in the game to be making a plan for that. On the other hand, I'm hoping the HESI is weighted, otherwise it was a waste of time and money.

AGREED!!!

My Hesi Test is on the 3rd :uhoh3: any advice on the A&P ..... Ive been reading the book .... i took it back in 2006 lol its making me nervous !!!!

On the HESI , i specifically asked about the importance of the test and i was told just the minimum score is all that mattered im wondering why the change now especially if they dont have as much applications ?!?!?

I'm going to go back and talk to them again the day after tomorrow. I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear!

Im just guessing here, but I suspect that with the extension of the application deadline and now this "Mandatory Meeting", most people did not do well on the HESI and now The College is considering lowering the required HESI score or eliminating the exam all together. Hmmmm...

I certainly hope not! If so I hope they are prepared to reimburse at least those that passed. I think the purpose of this meeting is to decide weather or not the HESI is going to be weighted or simply pass/fail. I was told by one nursing admissions person (Central) that it will be weighted but the other in that same office said passing it only means your are eligible to apply to the program. I suspect that asking 10 people would produce 10 different answers. I would prefer "I don't know" to all the conflicting information.

Ahhhhh what a mess! I'm hoping they get all this figured out soon... I just want to know if I got in already or not!!! If they are going to implement change, they should save it for the next class.

Daily update from me harassing the poor girl at admissions...she is so nice! Anyway, she was on the phone with someone who did not pass the HESI and she told the girl to put in her app anyway, b/c they weren't sure if they were going to require it still or not. So, I asked her if that was really an option...I mean, what about everyone who took it an passed? She said that the meeting nursing admissions was having today was going to decide. She said that their department (health science admissions) has a meeting tomorrow morning with the nursing people to find out what they decided. They are closed tomorrow and Friday and Monday is a holiday. She said I could stop by Tuesday to find out what they have heard.

This is all sooooo crazy!! I guess once again, we will wait and see!! :p

This is crazy! I can't believe their still trying to make changes on how to use the Hesi test. I hope if they do make changes its for the Winter 2011 class. Now all we can do is wait and see :-(

i went in to the nursing admissions office at central today to get my limited access app fixed. she said that my advisor had changed my objective on my student account and thats y my app got messed up. but she re-entered everything n now my pts are showing again... only thing is that my application term still reads 2009-1, i really hope that will not affect me in any way. i might have to pay her another visit.

i asked about the hesi if they are still going to use it and she told me that she is not sure, and said the same thing mizstriss said about them having a meeting today. she said they were going to discuss what they are going to do with the hesi and i think she said some of the nursing instructors would be involved in this meeting. && when she was updating my info on the computer i saw her take out a stack of papers, i thought she was going to give me something to take but then she looked up my name in the pile and found my application to make sure she had it-----> so i assumed that those were all the applications people had turned in. let me tell you how narrow that pile was, it made me feel so good lol. it couldn't have been more than 150 apps in her hand... but i didn't ask. And you know there had to be at least 6 pages stapled together for each application because of the hesi results attatched and even so i would imagine the pile of applications being thicker than that!

she also said to continue checking your emails everyday [now i understand y u guys were doing it.. sorry] and look out for any communications from them...

Don't worry about the term year that's posted on your limited access application. Mine says 20082 for the term when I actually applied for the 20101 term (August 2009). For whatever reason, they change it, but it won't affect your application.

okkk thanks, makes me feel better. i was just paranoid about it because everyone elses says 2011-1 like it should n didnt wanna be the oddball
