Broward College applicants for Fall 2009

Published

Did anyone already turn in there applications for Fall 2009 @ B.C.? because I am turning mine in next week before the deadline and now I have to wait AGAIN and keep continually looking at my e-mail and the myBC account for the Limited Access Program everyday hopefully I get in THIS TIME being my 3rd time :yeah:

I got the email today. I have a vacation planned to San Francisco from July 2-16th. I have to call airline now and change the dates. I'm glad I'm in, but the orientation date screwed my vacation. Oh well.

Yeah a friend of mine had a vacation planned during that time as well.

I guess they must be sending Cental people their emails first. Or Central is ready and north is not since they have people at each campus processing and what not.

I wonder if they are saying they accepted people with points from 8-22 and are including the alternates, since I have a friend who has 8 pts and is an alternate. 22 points is really high. Must be nice to have HOSA pts and a 4.0!

My friend has a 3.0 no points.. cuz she does not livein broward and she did not have Hosa... Will she get in?

With a 3.0 she will have 6 pts. If she applied for Aug, unless there are a lot of people deferring or declining, I'm not sure she will get in. There are people with 8, 9, and 10 pts on the alternate list, so its hard to say at this point what will happen. I know with the May class 2.9's got in. May is less competitive.

i got the e-mail already!! pre-admission orientation is thursday, july 9th at 2:00 p.m. central campus!!! omg im soo excited!! :w00t:

has anyone done the certifications already?? in the letter it says that you can register online to do them...i have to look into that so that i can get them out of the way.

try ceufast.com $29 gets you an annual membership and you can do all you ceu courses online. not sure about cpr though.

is that what you did when you got in the program??? do you know for sure they accept those ceritficates from that website??? i just don;t wanna do it and then they tell me that its not acceptable. please let me know!! oh and also can you do the bls one there too??

oh and about registering...do you have to wait until you go to the orientation to then register for the nursing classes???

thanks a bunch!!!

good for you.. :yeah:

thank you so much for the reply.

i'm currently trying to register online but bcc's home page is so hard to understand not like mdc.

i have to wait until fall term for cae0299 and i still have time until the program starts, right?

you have to check your registration date...you can't register until then, like mine is on monday, june 22 at 8:00 am. i tried signing up for the certification classes and i couldn't cause of that. i think you have until right before the program starts to have the certifications done and then you have to turn them in to the campus ur going to be attenting. thasts what it says in the nursing program page.

and i know what you mean about the bc registration page...mdc is soooo much easier to understand..i went there too.

im freaking out cause i dont know if we have to wait until orientation to sign up for the nursing courses...i don't wanna lose my chance ot attend south because then any other campus is going to be one hell of a long drive.

I found this on CEUfast's website:

"CEUFast.com is an approved provider for the California Board of Registered Nursing, #CEP 13509, the Florida Board of Nursing, #NCE 2796, and the Washington DC Board of Nursing #50-353."

I was told at the pre-admission info sessions that you can do these classes anywhere as long as you had the provider's Florida Board of Nursing number, so they should accept this. I'm sure Leavingteaching will be around later to tell you for sure, but it looks like its fine.

Also, I did a search on CEU's website and there were no courses with BLS or CPR in it. There's no way for you to do the skills online since you have to be checked off by a provider. You can do tests online for CPR (I did mine online as part of my core class) but the skills must be in person.

You cannot register for classes until they tell you that you can. At the orientation, they will tell you the set date for nursing registration and which classes you need to register for. They'll say its yada yada date at 8am. Then on the date at that time (which may not really be 8 but I think it is usually) you can sign on and register for the classes you need that semester. This is also how you choose the campus you want to attend. If its Central, you'll register for the nursing class all at Central.....South, North the same. But South and Central fill up faster because they have less seats than North, so make sure if you want South or Central you register asap that day.

You should be able to register for summer classes since it is already summer semester. Fall classes start on Aug 24.....anything AFTER that date is fall. Everyone can register for anything up until Aug 11.

is that what you did when you got in the program??? do you know for sure they accept those ceritficates from that website??? i just don;t wanna do it and then they tell me that its not acceptable. please let me know!! oh and also can you do the bls one there too??

oh and about registering...do you have to wait until you go to the orientation to then register for the nursing classes???

i attended the may class orientation but deferred my seat. ceufast.com is one of two sites they give you to complete your certs. i took all of them expect the hiv/aids and the bls on this site. you can't take hiv/aids on this site because it's only 1 hour and i think you need 4 hours and you must do the first cert for bls in person. you can only do the re-cert online. they will explain everything to you though. with the exception of bls there's no need to rush, you can take your time and do them online.

I got accepted but I haven't recieve my letter (email). Does this sound right if the first orientation is monday? Will i be missing it?

Ahhhh! I'm freaking out.

Sunraygurl, i suppose you didnt get your letter either right? From What i read on the forum there is a 8:00 orientation monday. does that sound right? cause what if we miss it?

CEUFAST.com looks like a good deal I mean its 30 dollars and you can get any certification for a year...it beats paying like 300 dollars for all those course plus gas money cause each course is on a different date and they are all in Central. The only one I would have to do at Central is the CPR one.

Let me ask you though the OSHA/TB/Hepatitis is 6 hours according to Broward...but on the website its only a total of 5 hours...I dont wanna do it and then they tell me im missing an hour....what should I do?

Also thanks for the registration info for the Nursing classes Im gonna sign up the minute orientation is over...but actually when i applied for the program I put I would be starting this Fall so even if I wanted to register for the certification (CAE) courses i can't until Monday (registration date for me for Fall term) because i'm considered to be starting in the Fall so thats why I was saying that I have to wait until Monday to register.
