Brookhaven Nursing Fall 2015

Published

Hi!

I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!

I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!

I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!

Is it just me or is Chemistry 1405 really considered 5 credits? I transferred mine in and the school I took it at was only 4 (Class 3 + Lab 1) but as I'm looking at my advising report online it's showing it as 5 credits. I suppose that's what it is at the DCCCD schools?

I'll be applying with 21 points

I am very curious about the points scale this semester. Since they just changed it I don't have any bearings on what would be considered a "good" amount of points. I do know that if you got a 100 on your HESI and maxed your points everywhere else (made all A's and had a 4.0 GPA) your max score would be somewhere around 37 or 38. So I would think 30 points and above would be an excellent score. 25 points or more would be an average. 20 points or more and you can definitely hope for an interview! Plus, I swear it seems like less people are applying this semester.

I hope less people are applying this year! LOL. That would bode well for all of us! Maybe just less people are aware of allnurses.com this year..

So, I just so happened to be perusing the Brookhaven Nursing Webpage because they seem to change things a lot and lo and behold, they added a form to the application packet requirements AFTER I have already turned mine in! (I turned mine in on Feb 2, before they changed the first date to submit to Feb 16.) So, that's a little stressful! The form they added is

  • Eligibility Requirements for RN Licensure in the State of Texas . I just called and left a message with the nursing office explaining the situation..I hope they call back soon! Apps are due by Friday at 3:30pm and I would just die if something like this ruined my chances for having an 'incomplete' packet! I haven;t felt one bit of stress until now! How frustrating! :arghh:

I just turned mine in on 2/16 and I did not have that form in my packet. The checklist she gave me doesn't list it as a required form either. I think you're ok.

Let me know what they tell you when they return your call.

I will definitely let you know when I talk to them. It makes me feel better that it wasn't in your packet either, so maybe that means it wasn't in a lot of peoples' packets. And I do have the checklist that she signed off on saying my packet was complete so I guess in the worst case scenario, I could use that in my defense. :)

I'm sure you're fine! They only just added it and if you've been signed off, then there can't be any problems. But I would be calling too :) I was supposed to drop off my packet yesterday and then today and DCCCD has been closed. Any questions ya'll want me to ask when I go in (hopefully) tomorrow? Also, I'm going to ask if they have any idea what's competitive. I doubt they will tell me, but hey... It's just that last summer you had to have a minimum of 20 to apply and that became 19 in November, and now it is 18! That has to be good for us all in the 20's? Also (clearly I think about this too much), there were 59 people enrolled in the Dosage class. I know there are many people applying who have taken the module in the past as well, but at least a third in that class said they weren't applying until the Spring.... So that means there are 40ish people who just took the class for Fall 15. And there are 70 interviews... And hopefully only maybe another 40 people who took it in the past and are reapplying? I need a hobby... Btw, did ya'll have to take copies of your transcripts from the registrar to the nursing office with your apps?

There are usually close to 500 applicants, I thnk.

hoping my low points get me in, but I think everyone with 24 and above will have a good chance!

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm going to be driving up from Corpus just to turn in my App (I don't trust the mail!!!) and I was curious about the transcripts also. I guess I'll get a copy just in case to play it safe!
