Hi!
I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!
I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!
I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!
Thank you! :) A 91 is still an awesome score! Yeah, the conclusions killed me too! To this day I am still questioning my ability to form the right conclusions! My boyfriend would agree at times:laugh: I am glad you asked about what they thought would be competitive..I completely forgot to! I have also noticed in past forums that a lot of people apply to multiple schools.. which gives room for alternates to be accepted when those people pick the other school and not Brookhaven. It seems to happen each semester, which is promising. Did she tell you when we would be notified of our points status or give you any other good info? :)
No... No other info. I still need to actually drop off my packet, I was just getting course substitutions submitted when I asked. So I'll see what other info I can get when I go this week. And it's very true about alternates. I applied to TWU for the fall also, both to their weekend program and their regular program. I actually prefer Brookhaven because it's quicker and closer to me, but I will go wherever someone will take me! :) This waiting game is killer though. Your points seem like they will be more than fine!! I would be so much more confident if I had a 28 applying!!
I'm applying with just over 26 points, hopefully this time around that will be enough. My points went down as well with this new system, it's a little disheartening because it's so reassuring to see your points climbing each semester! Oh, well, I know everyone was affected by the changes, but still disheartening. Oh, well, chin up! Grats to everyone who is getting their application turned in this filing period!
Quick question regarding the Physical…(i'm going tomorrow for mine) on page 3 (immunizations) at the bottom where it says BHC Center Nurse/Physician/Nurse Practitioner Signature… is that saying that the physician doing my physical needs to verify all my shots or the school will? #unsure

So, as far as I know, you don't need to get that physical and vaccine stuff verified until you're accepted into the program. That's what they told me, anyway. I did start my hep a/b series in December to be ready by August (it's a 6 mo series) in case I do get accepted to school though. As far as which physician (theirs or yours) verifies the vaccines, I'm confused on that as well but they told me that I would learn all of that upon acceptance. Again, in the meantime, I have gotten all of my titers, etc done and all my records in one place for if/when I get accepted to school so I'm not scrambling last minute. Maybe call the nursing office and ask them- but I don't think you need to worry about that part just yet. I know el centro makes their applicants have all that verified upon application but not Brookhaven.
OK wow I guess I got the requirements mixed up! Because I hurried and did a Healthcare provider CPR class last week and then scheduled an appt for a physical tomorrow. Is http://www.brookhavencollege.edu/programs/hhs/nursing/Documents/STEPS%20FOR%20THE%20NURSING%20APPLICANTS.pdf (A-G) all that goes in the packet? Interesting! I was going to submit the copy of my CPR, Immunizations, blah blah blah but I will call in the morning to get clarification. So much less stressful than I was making it out to be! I assumed this was all required cause I applied to El Centro in 2012 and actually was accepted but the timing wasn't quite right with where I was in my personal life. Anyway I'm glad I've had this forum..it really takes the edge off of things knowing there are others in my same boat
SILLY ME!!!! The part about this is even printed in bold!!!
A current physical examination is needed for admission into the Associate Degree Nursing Program. The medical forms and immunization records include a medical history, physical exam and current, required immunizations. These forms are available on the Brookhaven College Nursing website. The completed forms are submitted prior to Success Camp.
Even that blurb is confusing! It says required before admission....then turned in before success camp. But you don't go to success camp until after you're admitted! Lol. I can tell you that my application didn't include any dr or immunization paperwork and they went thru it and checked everything off and said it was all there! Maybe still call just in case...and then let us know what they say 😆

Wow, eelittle! Great job on your HESI and your overall application score. I should have listened to you more about the conclusions... That part destroyed me! I ended up with a 91. It's crazy how much the HESI effects the overall application points. To the others on here with 23 points, the one lady in the office said she thought 24 would be competitive this year but said that was just a guess. And then on the Fall 2013 thread, a girl got in with a 24.1 and another girl had a 31.2 who got it. So that's quite the spread in points! And everyone's points seem to have dropped some with the new scoring system, so hopefully that is true? I'm applying with 23.9 so hopefully she's right and we all get in! It's hard not knowing what is competitive since everything has changed. :/
