Brookhaven Nursing applicants - Spring 2018

This is a forum for anyone applying to Brookhaven college ADN program for Spring 2018.What tips can you offer? Any challenges? How was the dosage calculation exam? Any tips for the critical thinking exam and the interview? How many points are you applying with?

I'm applying tmrw with 35.3 and I don't know if that is good enough.

I took my CT on Friday and scored 9.9 points towards my application. However, I did hear a member of the nursing program staff member say the 17th was the last day to take the CT exam - were y'all able to get a definite answer? I believe I will be applying with 33.41 points; I'm not super happy with my score but I hope I make the cut!

Does everyone have their app in order? I'm freaking out! lol

On my testing slip, it said on or no later than September 16, 2017, which was this past Saturday.

A new slip was made available on Monday giving until the 30th.

I took my Hep B titer yesyerday at the Garland Public Health Center and got my results back today. My Hep B was too low. I cried for about 2-3 minutes and resolved to myself that Spring 2018 just isnt my time. So Guess who will be applying with the next round of applicants? Good luck ladies and gentlemen! Go out there and kick some nursing school booty!

Guess who else had a low Heb B titer? Looks like we both will be a part of the Fall 2018 Forum! Life...is hilarious. I cried for a few minutes and then walked out. I went a got super full for lunch and now I'm figuring out what I will do for the next year. But Fall 2018 IS OUR TIME!!!

Did you take the Hep before? if yes you can try to apply another college. Some colleges require the immunization records not the titer. I hear deadline of Mountain view college is Oct 16th. Hopefully it can help you

I thought the HESI book by Elsevier was pretty consistent with the Exam. The CRAM app was REALLY helpful too. I will say it was WAY easier than I thought it would be. Since I've taken A&P I & II it was kind of just like reviewing some basics. I don't remember a lot of the questions, but know your planes and directions, posterior, anterior, proximal, distal, brain anatomy and which areas affect what, I think I had some questions on the dermis and epidermis. It wasn't as in depth as I expected. Oh, and I had some questions on renal function. Good luck! I've heard if you do the practice exams that's really helpful too.

Is there a deadline to take the critical thinking exam? I have everything done but that. I know that September 30th is the application deadline, but I'm just worried I missed my window for the CT exam.

Jordegar, were you able to complete your CT exam? Also, how'd you do? I got 9.9! :/

Does anyone know that if we have all the vaccinations that we need if we still have to get the titers as well?!

Were you able to get this sorted out? If not, you should consult the BHC nurse, she's great and always in her office. You will need titers for some and vaccines as well.
