Brookhaven Nursing applicants - Spring 2018

Published

This is a forum for anyone applying to Brookhaven college ADN program for Spring 2018.What tips can you offer? Any challenges? How was the dosage calculation exam? Any tips for the critical thinking exam and the interview? How many points are you applying with?

I did not get accepted and I am so crying. Heck no! lol. I am gonna apply again and gonna get in. I had 35.3 points and I would like to know what went wrong in the interview. Hmm.... Does anyone know how many people went to the interview and how many people got accepted? Also, how many people are going to be alternates?

I got in! Congrats to everyone who got in as well:)

I got in with 35.89 points

I wonder when will the orientation be? Anybody with an idea?

Anybody heard anything since being accepted? I don't have facebook so I was just wondering if there have been any updates in the last week--the lady I emailed when I was accepted said that there was nothing else that needed to be done at this time, but I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

Would you mind sending it to my email instead? It's [email protected].

Greetings Everyone,

I hope all is well.

Congratulations to all that got accepted and for the others- I hope you all are applying again!

I am applying to the nursing program Spring 2019 and was wondering if some of the nursing students could provide insight on the program.

Specifically:

1. What is your typical week like?- When are your clinicals/ class lecture?

2. Do you get to choose you class schedule or are the classes "assigned" each semester?

3. Has anyone dropped/ failed out of the program?

I think that is all I have for now LOL!!! Thank you in advance for anyone who answers!

Hi I'm typing this on my phone so excuse any typos. The classes are pretty much set up for you, they give you a specific course number to register for each semester. You'll do your lectures all together and be split into about 5 groups for your skills and Clinicals. 1st semester looked like this. Keep in mind dates may vary for your cohort. We have lost a few but don't let that discourage you, keep focused!

Tuesday open lab 9am-1pm you can go and practice skills on your own

Wednesdays 8am- 12 noon Nursing Foundations Lecture

Wednesdays 1pm-6pm "Pre-Clinical"(01/16/18-till end of March) this is to prepare you for your first clinical

Fridays 1pm-5pm Nursing Skills Lab... here you learn all your skills w manekins such as PPE, sterile field,

After "pre-clinical" ends Thursday 7am-7pm Clinical at your assigned facility w your group.

Anybody in this forum that have attended brookhaven that can tell me what the schedule look like during 1st ,2nd ,3rd and 4th semester?
