Brookhaven Fall 2010

Published

Hi everyone. I just turned in my application for the THIRD time this morning! I'm really hoping that third time's a charm. Has anyone turned in their application yet?

So are the loss of 3 points in affect for this semester or does it start the next application period?

Hi All! Forgive my user name I am not yet a nurse but I thought it was catchy! ;)

They are giving the 3 extra points for this semester (Fall 2010) because I got my confirmation e-mail and it had figured in my re application points (this is my second time to apply). I applied with 38.96 points. I have all of my classes done and I re-took HESI for a better score.

I strongly recommend re-taking HESI if you did not score great on it the first time. I made an 86 the first time and re-took it in February and made a 95! That really boosted my points, and it was pretty much the same exact test.

Also.... I talked to *** last week and she said that 270 something applied and that it was a little lower than normal. She also said as of now they have still not received approval on 50 spots... only 40, BUT that could change (gotta love LAST MINUTE decisions...NOT)! She also mentioned that it might be April 2nd when e-mails go out, so I have prepared myself for that. I know it is only on day but I know you all can understand the agony of that!

I have about 5 friends that have all applied this semester and have 32+ points. I know that is only 6 of us over 32 (that I know) but I thought I would throw it out there.

Good luck to everyone, and please post when you get your e-mails!

38 points!!! Wow that's the highest I have heard of. Props to you!

Has anyone heard from the the lady at Brookhaven to as what the points look like this semester? Did she hopefully say something around 28? lol. Turns out I have 29.99 points.

270 is a lot of applicants. When people said there was fewer applicants I was thinking like 100.

NurseNikki,

Congratulations!! You are a shoe-in!! You don't even need to wait for your letter- that is an awesome score and I'm proud of you- I've never heard of a score like that and you have inspired me to improve on my score!! It's the A&P that kills me; 'got a 88.23 due to the A&P portion. The math is easy, the English is easy too, but the A&P (i got a 76 on this section)....not my strong suit!! Any suggestions you have for me about this section I'd greatly appreciate, because you seem to know what you're doing and I want to learn from your success!! :yeah:

Alum08 & KaseyP.... thanks so much!! This has really not come easy to me, I have two kids and work full time (right now) and it has really taken me SO LONG to get to this point, I just really want to get those e-mails so I can breathe. I feel like there is a weight on my shoulders.... I know you both can totally relate!

Alum08- *** has been really "hush hush" about cut off points. Every time I have asked she will say "it's too early to tell" or something to that vague extent. I am sure she just can not say because e-mails have not gone out. ONE MORE WEEK...AHHHHH:eek:

KaseyP - This is Nicole.....is the the Kasey I know?? Text me if it is!! ;)

I also did bad on the A&P the first time I took it and that is what lowered my scores! Since the HESI is given on evolve, they e-mail you your detailed score sheet a few weeks after you take it. Once you get that, you can go into each specific area and see what you need help on. I studied the things I did not do well on extensively and then went back and refreshed on the stuff I was comfortable with. The scariest thing is just making that decision to retake the test. Not knowing if you will do better or worse, but everyone that I know has done better the second time because you have the advantage from taking it before. HTH..... and good luck when you retake it!

Thank you, Nicole!! But no, I'm not the Kasey you know...sorry!! I am going to retake it and I appreciate your advice. And yes, the scariest part is deciding to retake the exam, because there's always a chance you could do worse! I mean, I can't really improve on the Math; I made a 98 on that section, I can really only improve by one question or I could go down in points. But, enough, I'm going to try and not think negatively and just nail it like you did!! Congrats again!! You can even start shopping for you school scrubs, that's how positive i am about you getting in!! Way to go!!

Oh you are so sweet! I wish I could start shopping but I don't want to be overly confident. I know it's really competitive and I am not ruling any possibility out. KWIM?

98 IS awesome in MATH! Wow.... not really room for improvement there lol The funny thing is..... I thought the same thing because I scored in the 90's on most things the first time I thought I would not improve much, but EVERY single one of my grades moved up!! Even reading and I scored a 93 on that the first time. You CAN DO IT, and it is much easier the second time. You feel more relaxed, since you sorta know what to expect.:p

I agree and I'll make it happen! Where there's a will there's a way, and I have the drive and dedication; I just need to keep my eye on the prize; remain focused! I bet your family is so proud of you!!

Does anyone know how many applicants they had for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010?

Someone posted 270

I think 270 is right for fall 2010. I am not sure about last semester, for some reason 400 is what I was hearing.... Don't quote me though. :)

I thought I also heard 400 for spring.

This makes me wonder if the magic min point number will drop to 28 for fall acceptance?

This is making me so anxious.
