Hi everyone. I just turned in my application for the THIRD time this morning! I'm really hoping that third time's a charm. Has anyone turned in their application yet?
That sucks!! But hey, at least you have an alternative to the Brookhaven one!! Did you check Collin County? I bet the one at UNT is easier than the Brookhaven one; I've been putting this class off forever because of the time commitment issue...There are just so many out of class assignments!! Is UNT's online? If so.I might look into it!
Just wanted to ease your mind about the End of Life class. We did have to visit a graveyard but you did where you wanted and when you wanted. You didn't have to go with anyone and the assignment ended up being interesting. I have to tell you I really wasn't looking forward to this class but if you go in with an open mind there actually is good that comes from this class. The volunteer time was an amazing experience for me and again it is based around your schedule. The presentation wasn't bad either. It wasn't as bad as I was lead to believe it would be. I hope you all get to get into the class and it stinks that it is so hard to get in.
hey ladies, the end of class at brookhaven is easy! Yes you do have to do 10 hrs of volunteer work and go visit a graveyard but that's no sweat. I literally drove around the graveyard for 5 mins and that's pretty much all I needed to write my paper. If you do the paper then you get the points, it's not really graded. The presentation was not bad at all, I did mine on the funeral process. It's an overall easy laid back class in that you don't have to read or study at home, just come to class, listen to the lectures, and do the assignments. BUT it is a very emotional class, I cried so many times in that class...then again I'm just a sad sap.
Oh, okay! Well, that doesn't sound too bad, I guess! I apologize if I've displayed any negativity about the class to anyone; that wasn't my intention. I think I have just put this class off soooo many times because the subject matter is such a downer and I understand that death is a normal process, but getting your pre-reqs done and applying for a program is stressful enough without throwing death into the mix; I don't know, we'll see, but thank you all for your insight and experience with the class! :)
Yes, you did ease my mind and I appreciate it greatly!! I have a question, Holly, when does Brookhaven get back to those who applied? Is it after the dispute period? I am not getting in for Fall, but I just want my denial email!!! I hate loose ends and I just want to see the process through so I know what to expect for the next time!!
I'm just going to wait on the Brookhaven class. The UNT tuition and fees to take the class would make the cost over $500. I can take the Brookhaven one for $84. That's a huge difference.
I decided to retake my English from 1991 for an A. It will raise my gpa by .21 points. I want to ensure I've done everything I can to increase my chances for spring acceptance.
The calendar says we will receive email notification on April 1st.
Any guesses as to how many points will be the minimum?
OOOOh!! Yes, $500.00 is a little steep!! Ummm, last semester, they didn't accept anyone under 31 pts., I believe. However, they are throwing out the 3 pts for applying a second time, so it'll probably drop the points accepted down to about 27 or 28, I'm assuming?!! I hope this helps a little!! And you might want to consider taking English online. i did and it worked well with my scedule! :)
Then I would take it!! Get it out of the way so you can concentrate on other things! I know, I hate this waitng game, but I only applied to get the 3 points for spring, knowing I didn't have enough points to compete for acceptance this time around..I just wanted to know every facet of the process and how it works so I'll be prepared for what lies ahead in spring 2011.

I just did a quick search on the TCC website and didn't find a death and dying class. UNT offers one. However, you also get to pay UNT's per credit hour cost. Yikes. They have really increased tuition since I graduated from there in 1995!
