love natureWhen did you apply with NBV? Have you already been approved? Kindly share your experience for the benefit of others who have applied recently and will be applying soon.
Thanks.
Hi Haoyin,
I applied for NBV in dec 2008. I got approval in July 09 dats due to delay in my documents. They asked me for my birth certificate and second my verification from India was delayed. In July I received my letter of approval, my english and oet requirement and list of colleges where I can apply for course. Minimum it takes about 2 months to receive ur letter bcos one of my friend she received her letter by 3 months. In Nov 09 I took my oet and in jan 10. I applied at ballarat and starting course in april.
@drednag: oh yeah, something like that! but anyhow, i don't have neither. i only have 6 months experience as a company nurse but i will still apply at vchn. they don't have application fee, right?
hi, wahine...nope, i dont think they have application fee. i think i will try to apply there also.
here's what i got from the vchn brochure:
selection criteria for the course
1. all candidates must provide a letter from their accrediting australian nursing
board confirming eligibility to complete the pre-registration course for
overseas qualified nurses. this letter is valid for 2 year from date of issue.
2. evidence of a current police check
3. appropriate visa issued by the department of immigration and citizenship
4. evidence of a pass in ielts with an overall minimum score of '7' in every skill
at a single sitting (or 'oet' nursing version level of 'b' or above). this score is
valid for 2 year from date of issue.
5. successful in a selection telephone interview
6. appropriate reference checks
candidates must also meet the victorian college of health & nursing selection
criteria which includes:
1. at least 12 months nursing practice as a registered nurse, of which at
least 3 months is in an acute care medical-surgical ward of a hospital.
2. evidence of current nursing practice in the past 3 years
3. pass in the international language testing system (ilets) with a score
of at least 7 in reading, 7 in listening, 7 in writing and 7 in speaking in a
single sitting with an overall band score of at least 7 in a single attempt.
this score is valid for 2 year from date of issue.
or occupational english test (oet) - nursing version: a b pass or
above in all four sections. this score is valid for 2 year from date of issue.
4. evidence of a current police check
5. evidence of a recent health check
6. work experience statement
7. successfully passing a telephone interview
8. review of a current curricula vitae
9. appropriate reference checks
10. presentation of an accrediting australian nursing board letter of
approval prior to under taking the course. this will be valid for 2 years
from date of issue.
hello love natureWhy did they ask for your birth certificate? Didn't you submit it with the application form? Or they asked for the original?
Hi wahine888
I submitted my translated certificate, done by JP, to them but they asked to submit the original in english. so I was to get it from India and dey asked me to get name added on that which was not possible according to Indian constitution. to solve this problem I was to be issued one for certificate which was that name can't be added due age over 15 year. I submitted remaining docs in june and got my approval in july.
love nature
Thanks for sharing your experience with your application. Back 2008 and mid 2009 it's still faster for NBV to assess applicants as QNC is still accepting CAS applicants, but after QNC stopped accepting, many started applying with NBV hence the cause of delay in assessment due to influx of applications. That's according to my case manager. Still I would say if in any rare case there's no problem with anything then on the average it will take 3 months.
Good luck with your studies in Ballarat.
Cheers!
Hello love nature,So your original birth certificate was not in English. I've read in previous posts that Indian applicants get approvals faster than Filipinos. All in all, how long did you wait to get your eligibility? :)
Hi wahine888...
Yeah u r right it was not in English. I submitted the english one in June09 and by end of july09, my letter of eligibilty from nbv was in my hand.
