Thanks kuchi! That's really good news! I got scared when I heard of rumors that the 3-month BP will be replaced by 1-2 year "enrolled nursing" pre-registration courses. I thought that was the new protocol!

Thank you for your suggestion. I'm still thinking whether it's Latrobe or Ballarat. Latrobe's intake is on June while Ballarat's latest intake this year, I believe, is on August, at the Sydney campus. It really depends when I will get my eligibility from NBV coz I will be running after the closing dates of application which is on March 30 already for Ballarat, Sydney! I made sure that all my NBV documents were complete and certified correctly to avoid delays. What additional documents did they ask for you when you applied?

If ever I decide to go to Ballarat, I would appreciate it if you can 'endorse' me to the registrar or whoever :)

BTW, in what campus are you taking the IRON, Ballarat or Sydney? :)

They will be asking for immunization, please have that also coz it will take couple of months to finish all the vaccine.I have previously posted the vaccines. You will be needing a medical certificate for all of it. University of Ballarat intake are all in Melbourne for 4 weeks theory and 8 weeks of clinical practice in Sydney or Melbourne.

Good luck:yeah:

Follow up question to Kuchi: I just called Ballarat and spoke to someone and she said that they require a minimum of 1 year experience for overseas nurses to be accepted for the IRON. Did you have that? I only have 6 months experience! But she said that if I do get the eligibility from NBV then they might consider the limited experience.

So wanted to ask something as well about the 1 year experience, can it be any field of nursing and what documents will we need to submit when looking for a school. Still waiting for my NBV letter.

If the university requires experience then I would think any experience as long as it is nursing related and in hospitals would probably be okay. You just have to show them a certified proof that you were employed at the said institution from date of commencement to date ended.

With regard to the docs you need to submit to the schools would depend on the school you want to go to. But generally, it will consist of your letter of approval from the Nursing Board/Council, your passing IELTS scores, the duly filled up application form of the said school, and some other docs that would be asked like immunizations and stuff. Generally, not as much docs as when you are applying for the nursing board.

Cheers.

When did you apply with NBV? Have you already been approved? Kindly share your experience for the benefit of others who have applied recently and will be applying soon.

Thanks.

@drednag: you're welcome! VCHN is my 3rd choice. Latrobe is 1st, Ballarat is 2nd. But VCHN requires at least 1 year experience in a Med-Surg ward and I don't have that! That's why I wanna get in the Unis, coz they don't require work experience. What about you? Have you decided where to go yet?

@love nature: Do you have your NBV already? How long did it take you to get it? :)

hi, wahine888...actually, if i get my nbv letter, my first choice is latrobe, then etea, then ballarat.

since i also applied with nmbwa, i was thinking that if i go to wa for the bridging, vchn would be my choice since they have a shorter bridging course duration (they are also accredited with nmbwa, i think part of the course will be held at their melbourne campus). really? they require 1 year med-surg experience? i thought they are just requiring 1 year nursing experience, with at least 3 months of it in med surg. uh oh...:):D
