Starting a thread for Boston College Direct Entry MSN applicants for Summer 2019. Looks like we are the last class before BC goes to a DNP direct entry program!
I'm applying for the Psych/MH track, based on work/life experiences in the mental health realm. My cousin went through the BC program a few years ago, loved it, and has a job she really enjoys.

I like that NEU awards a BSN, and makes you stop to get RN experience before moving on to masters. Experience is really important in this field, so i'll take it
Does BC not award a BSN?

I don’t think you have to visit the school to improve your chances, but visiting might be helpful in helping you determine what to expect and learn more about the program. I had a 3.8 GPA and a 121 on GRE, but absolutely no healthcare experience, and I was accepted (I did not visit the school). However, even though this was a top choice for me, I ended up attending Umass Medical School’s program, because it allows you to work as an RN after the first year, and I have learned that having RN experience is really important to a lot of hospitals looking to hire NP’s. Also, if money is a factor for you, the Umass Medical program is significantly less expensive, and Worcester is a cheaper place to live and own a car. Hope this helps! ?
Thank you so much; this also helps! You said you got a 121 on the GRE?

Personally I chose Boston College not just because its faster, but also because I loved the campus and atmosphere more than any other school I visited and they have an outstanding reputation for nursing (NEU does have a good reputation as well though).
It definitely does appeal that its shorter though. I am planning to do the DNP in my third year. It does not bother me a whole lot that I won't have a BSN as my end goal is DNP, but I do see the value in that.

FYI I got a 159 on verbal and 154 on quantitative.
Most schools generally want above 50th percentile which mine was, although not dramatically above. Actually they approved me w/o unoffical scores for this test yet, only my first lower scores
And they really do consider all aspects of the application, I think recommendation letters and personal statement are super important.
Good luck
I called and was told that they did pretty much pull any people off the waiting list they needed to already (based on deposits that were sent it), but there is the possibility that people could choose to give up their seats before classes start at which point additional people would be pulled off the waiting list.
