Starting a thread for Boston College Direct Entry MSN applicants for Summer 2019. Looks like we are the last class before BC goes to a DNP direct entry program!
I'm applying for the Psych/MH track, based on work/life experiences in the mental health realm. My cousin went through the BC program a few years ago, loved it, and has a job she really enjoys.

Congrats! Were you previously on the waitlist or were you accepted right away? I'm just curious to see if people on the waitlist are starting to hear back.
Also, what other schools are you considering?
Hi everyone!
I will be applying next year, which will be the DNP program...
I am extremely anxious about applying especially because most likely they will not have interviews... I have solid grades and health experience. I am taking the GRE on the 30th.
Do you guys think making a visit before applying would help my application? I am not close to Boston, so I would have to fly (expensive from my city).
What are some other schools that you guys applied to? I am interested in programs for NP directly from a non nursing Bachelor’s.
Even tho BC is my top choice, I am looking for other schools in case BC doesn’t work out because it sounds competitive!
Any other advice for applying would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank you all for all of the other info you have posted because it is helping me!

<<We received a number of well qualified applicants for the program and we were forced to make some tough decisions. In the end, a waitlist letter simply means that, if we have the space available, you would have been admitted. However, due to having a finite number of seats, we were forced to place you on the waitlist.
Unfortunately, there is no specific timeline. We will review the waitlist candidates on a space available basis. When and if a seat becomes available, we will consult the waitlist and re-review those who remain. From there, we will render an acceptance. This could be as soon as next week or as late as July. Rather than having a specific cutoff date, we keep the options open for any potential seat that becomes available. It is simply contingent upon a seat opening up.>>
I am curious if completed applications were reviewed and applicants accepted on a rolling basis until application deadline. I submitted my application very very last minute and there were issues with BU receiving my final transcript (I was not informed of this until I proactively checked up on a several times. I remember reading in this tread that someone else had experienced a similar issue.) In any event, this remains a waiting game from now until infinity? Just kidding, July, per the email.
Anyone else also waitlisted for PMHNP or other specialties and want to form a support group on Facebook?

Yes, I definitely think it helps to visit the school. I visited BC and met with the assistant dean, and I got in. They remember who you are when you meet with them, thats a big deal out of the hundreds of applications. Maybe visit and look at multiple schools?
I also applied to MGH, Simmons, Northeastern, UMass Worcester and Regis.
Hi daisychains11,
I don’t think you have to visit the school to improve your chances, but visiting might be helpful in helping you determine what to expect and learn more about the program. I had a 3.8 GPA and a 121 on GRE, but absolutely no healthcare experience, and I was accepted (I did not visit the school). However, even though this was a top choice for me, I ended up attending Umass Medical School’s program, because it allows you to work as an RN after the first year, and I have learned that having RN experience is really important to a lot of hospitals looking to hire NP’s. Also, if money is a factor for you, the Umass Medical program is significantly less expensive, and Worcester is a cheaper place to live and own a car. Hope this helps! ?

Thank you for a direct answer! That's what I was thinking... I probably will visit closer to when applications are open.

Hi, I wasn't on the waitlist I was accepted right away. I decided on Northeastern so I will be giving up my spot once NEU receives my deposit

I think its taking more of a risk to not visit the school.
There are hundreds of applicants.
But who knows really.
Yes, UMass is much cheaper. Congrats on getting in.

I applied to Regis, northeastern, MGH, BC and Yale and got waitlisted at Yale and accepted at all of the others - I live locally and didn’t visit any of the schools before applying and I think it ended up working out okay lol

Hi! I was admitted to PMHNP, I'm still deciding on whether I will choose BC.
