Starting a thread for Boston College Direct Entry MSN applicants for Summer 2019. Looks like we are the last class before BC goes to a DNP direct entry program!
I'm applying for the Psych/MH track, based on work/life experiences in the mental health realm. My cousin went through the BC program a few years ago, loved it, and has a job she really enjoys.
I was also waitlisted for PMHNP. I interviewed with Vanderbilt last week, and the faculty said PMHNP is by far their most competitive specialty, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's also the case at BC.
I've been accepted to direct entry programs at both Hopkins and Columbia, but both are just masters programs without a spot in the specialty guaranteed, so I'm hoping for an acceptance either here or at Vanderbilt!

During the summer, we were split into two groups. I was in the morning group from 9am-12pm. The fall was Monday 9am-12pm for adv. pathophysiology. Adult health is the most intensive course that is 6 credits 3x/week for 2 hours each. We had Mon. 1pm-3pm, Wed. 10am-12pm, and Friday 1pm-3pm. Adult skills lab was Wednesdays from 1pm-4pm. Clinicals were Tuesday/Thursday for adult health and population health from 7am-3pm. Tuesday night after clinical we had 4:30pm-7:30pm population health theory. Friday we had pharmacology 9am-12pm.
This semester is a bit different, everyone has slightly different clinical schedules as we have evening shifts. I personally do not have those evening shifts, but they go from 3pm-11pm. All courses for this semester are once a week for 3 hours each. We have childbearing theory, child health theory, psych mental health theory, and advanced pharmacology.
Hope that helps!

The program is generally well-run. There are a few things that could have been better such as not having a class after a long clinical day, but we all wrote about that on our evaluations so hopefully they change that going forward. Every time I have asked faculty or an administrator for something, I have had a pretty quick response time so no complaints there.

I was waitlisted for PMHNP. Congrats to everyone who was accepted and at least there is still hope for us on the waitlist!
