Hi , Creating this thread for anyone applying for Spring 2021 at BMCC . I didn’t get in last round so will plan to sit the HESI in December hopefully . Not sure what my PCI is but I got A’s in everything except AP1 which I got a B in . Please share tips or info so we can help each other . I’m in my 40’s and I’ve young kids so this is definitely a career change for me !

Wish you luck on getting in. Im looking at the possibility of not getting in and trying to see if I should transfer. The one thing thats dragging my GPA is the english some institution allows you to substitute the english 101 for 102, which I got an A on. And the worse case scenario is do the LPN route on laguardia.
Oh gosh I wrote 2007, I meant 2017. I’m not in the field that long, it would be embarrassing getting these scores with that much experience ?
I’m in my late 20s so that wouldn’t make sense...

I hope you get in though!
I didn’t apply to any other programs as I’m not eligible for federal aid or loans... I can only afford CUNY at this point, and I don’t want to commit to a 4 year program now. So only the community colleges left... But all the other CUNY CC’s are kinda far from me and I don’t know how good their nursing program is.
I work full time in emergency medicine so I really need something that I can work with considering my other daily commitments.

While we're killing time, did you guys apply to anywhere else?
I applied for Adelphi University just as back up because I don't know how I would afford that university LOL
I tried to apply to another cuny cc but they did not let me.

(I finished all prereqs on Spring 2020) I am worried if that would make me unqualified for the program.
I didn't realize that I have to be active for fall 2020 until it was too late to register.
Is there anyone with the same concern?
Oh no that's a bummer. Did you talk to Yvonne about it? I know a friend who did that last year because she did not know about staying active for fall and unfortunately she did not get in but I believe is worth trying to speak with Yvonne about it since you have an excellent score.

This is a bit new to me. What do you guys mean by being active for the semester you're applying to?

@jss1985 If you applied for Spring you should be taking at least one class in the fall. Like you must be actively taking classes at BMCC. I have tried to apply to other colleges as well and many of them have the same requirement that you need to be taking at least one class in the prior semester which for us is this fall. Hope it's clear sorry if I made it even more confusing.

I believe as long as you are taking one class this fall it should be fine. But again I would check with Yvonne to be safe. A lot of things in BMCC website is not updated which is annoying.

LOL yeah I applied to two other schools.
1. One for nursing - nassau community college... They rejected me a week ago. I was surprised.
2. One for Respiratory therapy - southeast community college... An accredited out of state school that offers an online part time RT track for students that live far from campus. I got accepted last month but there's a catch...
The school has no affiliated clinical sites in NYC and when a couple NY students tried to secure them before, they were unsuccessful. I told them I already work for a hospital and the supervisor of my RT dept agreed to help me. But an affiliate agreement has to be signed between my hospital and the school.
The clinical coordinator said hopefully by Feb 1st but classes start/have to be paid by Jan 11th. If its not signed by time clinicals begin in 2022, I would have to drop the program. So I've been vvveerrryyy iffy on this one.
I'm hoping I can just get into bmcc for this Spring so I wouldn't even have to consider taking this risk.

No, I did not take any classes this semester. But am active for next semester. As they mentioned you should apply for second-degree students. but I am confused.
