Hi , Creating this thread for anyone applying for Spring 2021 at BMCC . I didn’t get in last round so will plan to sit the HESI in December hopefully . Not sure what my PCI is but I got A’s in everything except AP1 which I got a B in . Please share tips or info so we can help each other . I’m in my 40’s and I’ve young kids so this is definitely a career change for me !

Correct me if wrong but weren't final grades reported on 12/22?
What the actual F?
That means they didn’t even start selecting? It’ll take a while then.
I applied to out of state as well and they’re bugging me to accept it and register for classes...
Something is fishy here.
Right - it was the same in Spring . The lack of transparency in this whole thing makes it difficult to have faith in it . I asked for the info about the Spring cohort , specifically what was the lowest GPA that was accepting in the program and how far off the mark I was . Never even got a reply . Plus if they are saying its straight up GPA and HESI results then its a question of numbers . They have not stated other criteria they are using to create the list. Shouldn’t be such a delay in generating a candidate list its like its subjective the grades and results are what they are .

What final grade?
The exam was from 11/31-12/5 we all got our grades already. I am so confused.
Also have the decency to give us a hard date even for themselves .They wouldn’t have to field numerous emails if they said offers will go out on whatever date .
For the fall 2019 it was 50% Kaplan score and 50% PCI . This generated a percentage number and then they used that number to create a candidate list .Top 81 or whatever students got offered a spot or that’s what I understood. They hold back a certain number of spots for students currently enrolled to allow the students who withdrew to re-enroll one time only . That will change semester to semester I guess . Fed up though !

They didn’t let me apply last semester because my last prereq was in progress... so gtfo with that bs that they’re waiting for grades. What grades they don’t even let you sit the HESI without completing prereqs.

That doesn’t make sense so they started the program and now some of them get to be kicked out? I’d sue the whole college LOL

Wait you have to take HESI every semester?Isn’t HESI the entrance exam?
I haven’t seen taking these tests every semester in the nursing handbook for sure ?
but like I said, they never gave me a straightforward answer or explanation for my questions before either so you might be right.

Respiratory care. But there's sort of a catch with the school I've been accepted to. It's an accredited school in Nebraska that offers a part-time online track for students who live in other states. In other words, lecture and lab are done online while clinicals are done locally where you live.
The catch is that in the NY/NJ area, they have no clinical affiliations. A couple of students in NY tried to secure one in the past but failed. However, the program director told me the fact that I'm already working at a hospital helps immensely. I also spoke to the Respiratory care supervisor at my job and he's agreed to help me with my rotations when it's time. So the school now has written/verbal agreement from him. The only thing left to do is the school needs to get the affiliate agreement signed with my job. They gave me a "possible" date of February 1st.
If it's not signed by the time clinicals begin in January 2022, they said I can either go to one of their affiliate sites in other states or drop the program. Everyone close to me is confident it will get signed and are encouraging me to stay in, but there's always that thought in the back of my mind... what if it doesn't? What if I have to take 3 days off/week to commute to West Virginia or whatever for clinicals? Or in the most extreme scenario, what if I end up having to relocate my family to Nebraska to do it?
I hate thinking about these what ifs... I haven't even bought the textbooks or accepted the loan yet because I'm waiting on BMCC.
As for the RT options in NYC...
LIU is expensive and asks for too many science prereqs that I don't have.
Mandl is also expensive and takes no transfer credits.
BMCC's RT program has a very low pass rate and is insanely hard to get through according to two graduates I spoke to. They take in like 160 students and only 10-15 pass. They do this on purpose to control the job market.
I applied to NCC and Westchester community college. But they start every fall and I have to wait to hear back from them. The good thing about the latter is that they let you transfer respiratory courses from other RT programs.
Same here, 3pm-11pm.
