After I took the test, I asked her and she said "by the 21st" and "hopefully before christmas but I can't make any promises" ??

Yeah I read the previous year’s thread and those students got the call on the 27th... so I’m not getting too excited about tomorrow.

Did anybody receive an email or call from the nursing department ?

Hello Everyone,

I am also applying to BMCC nursing program. But I am worried that it is not a good program. I looked at the graduation rates and they looked pretty decent. Can anyone share who is currently attending or graduated please share your experience? Are the professors helpful and student oriented or is this program designed to make students fail? I am torn between BMCC and LaGuardia. Thank you for helping me.

@larsgregory I’m currently a student at BMCC (just finished my first semester). From my experience so far, this is a decent Nursing program. Expect a lot of administrative disorganization. Each class is split into 3 groups (2 for the day program and 1 for the evening/weekend). My professor was great, she was helpful and made herself available at all times.  I’ve only heard good things about next semester’s professors. To my knowledge, everyone in my class passed the first semester (one person dropped out early on).
BMCC has a mentorship program available to students, where you get paired with a nurse who graduated from their program for additional support and advice. They also have meetings every few weeks with all the mentors together. I attended a few of these meetings and most graduates seem to be doing really well. BMCC is considered a great program by employers, but of course in most cases you do need to get a Bachelors degree in order to get a job in acute care (most of the mentors I met were already enrolled or graduated from a BSN).
If anyone has any questions about the program or what to expect, let me know and I’ll try to answer. I know how hard it is to navigate everything when you’re just getting started.

good luck!

Still no notification. Merry Christmas everyone

Thanks Jules. Can you elaborate on how the lottery works for day program? Like how exactly do they pick who goes in Morning/afternoon?

The one thing I can say is to just go in, study hard to to get to the NCLEX. Because of covid, everything has been online so I can't really comment on the typical BMCC experience at the moment. Expect a copious amount of work and disorganization. Go in and just keep your eyes on the prize.

Two questions for everyone.... Not sure if this relates to matriculation or not...

1. Does it matter what your current major is if you're applying to nursing at bmcc?

Like do you have to stay as UDH/liberal arts (or whatever its called) until you're accepted?

2. Do you have to be registered for any classes in the semester you're applying to in order to remain matriculated? I've been at bmcc since Spring 2020.

@jss1985The lottery is exactly that- a lottery.  Meaning if you applied to the day program, there are two different groups (mornings and afternoon). Each student is randomly assigned to one of the groups. One group meets mon/tue 9am-12:40pm (clinical day on Thursday). The other group meets Thurs/Fri from 1pm-4:40pm (clinical day on Tuesday).
About the major question- I never changed my major from Liberal arts (default) and it didn’t matter. Your advisor will let you know if you need to change your major.

not sure about your other question. I was taking classes the semester that I applied.
