Books about nursing

Hi everyone,

I am currently pre-nursing and while on break from school I've been reading a bit about nursing. While reading "Nurse" by Peggy Anderson, I noticed the author made more than one reference to "On Death and Dying" and "Death: The Final Stage of Growth," both by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. It dawned on me that reading one of those books may be a good idea for me since death is a part of nursing.

Have you read either of these books or any other books like them, not only about death but about other issues that are relevant to nursing? Were they insightful? Any recommendations?

    "Nursing against the odds" by Suzanne Gordon. A lot of it is told from the setting of the previous nursing shortage, but if you can deal with how much the situation has changed it is a very good book.

    Anything by Tilda Shalof. She written about her career in nursing and they are excellent.She is an experienced ICU nurse. Her last book related her experiences of being a patient.

    There are a couple of eBooks on amazon.com. One was titled Nursing Sucks: 101 Reasons Why You Don't Want to be a Nurse. It was actually quite informative (and funny).

    There are some books by Echo Heron (Herron ? spelling). They were good. Took place in the 70's and 80's.
