Books for new nursing students

Published

Hi there! I'm starting nursing school in the fall and was just wondering if anyone had any summer reading suggestions for brand new nursing students.

I've seen other threads with book suggestions, however, them seem to be geared more toward first year nurses or someone in the middle of their education.

Has anyone found any good ones for new students or books about being successful in nursing school? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Specializes in Neurosurgery, Neurology.

I'm also starting in the fall, and so far I've got these two, which I've seen recommended elsewhere:

Saunder's Student Nurse Planner (check out the description for everything it contains, in addition to the planner section)

Saunder's 2014-2015 Strategies for Test Success: Passing Nursing School and the NCLEX Exam

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.

Enjoy your time off now!!! You're going to wish you had. Trust me! :)

Thanks, nycguy! I'll check those out!

someone recommended this book: Amazon.com: Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination, 6e (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Rn) (9781455727551): Linda Anne Silvestri PhD RN: Books

to get familiar with the nclex style questions before school starts, but yea it does fall into students who have already started

I agree with SopraniKris just sit back and enjoy your summer. Come Fall you will have plenty to read.

Go on amazon and search nursing for dummies or nursing made easy books. I hear they are really good insightful readings.

Specializes in Acute Rehab, Neuro/Trauma, Dialysis.

I would just enjoy your summer off. It will probably be the last summer you have to enjoy for a very long time! ;) Good luck!
