I turned in my application today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg...I am so scared. I know its early in the game but anyone else applying for fall Bon Secours for 09? I have been doing non nursing classes for 3 semesters and finally I am ready to apply. I wanted to go into NS with only nursing classes! Now the waiting game!!!!! I cant belive I am at this point allready. It felt like forever! Now if NS goes by this fast (if I get in).
Hello! Congrats to those who have been accepted and good luck to those who are waiting patiently like myself! If I am not accepted this semester I am going to do J Sarge's CNA program while I wait to reapply to Bon Secours for the next semester. It is an 8 week program held at the downtown campus. I was told that the best RN's were CNA's. Also, I think it is great experience during nursing school! Are any of you CNA's?
I completed the CNA program at JSR in March, just to make sure i was making the right decision about applying to nursing school. I haven't used my certification in working since i decided i was going to apply directly to RN school and i wanted to take some classes to lighten my course load in the fall, but I think the experience was really helpful in getting myself back into the swing of studying and taking in the information and using it in clinical. I learned a lot, and got used to interacting with patients at the nursing home, so i would definitely recommend the class!
I didn't think the program was difficult, and since I kept up with the reading, I did very well on all of the tests. I felt like I was really prepared for boards. My clinical instructor was AWESOME, so helpful and she really loves teaching. The boards weren't bad, the worst part was just waiting for the day to get there, and as long as you practice the skills outside of class on family members, and actually do them right when you're in clinical, you'll do fine on the boards.
I am a CNA, licensed by the state of VA. I went through a local nursing home though, and it was a smart decision. I wouldn't have considered becoming an RN without it, it gives you very valuable experience. I highly suggest becoming a CNA if you don't get into nursing school, it is good experience, and you will never be out of a job. I have been a CNA sinc 2003.

I sure hope they send me all of that stuff soon. I haven't heard anything since the "condtional acceptance" letter, and that was like a month and a half ago. That is a lot of stuff to complete. Wow. :)
