Do you bring your laptop to class/lecture?
I start nursing school in September, so I haven't had the chance to use the pen in nursing classes yet, but I'm using it in my A&P class this summer and now I'm not sure how I took decent notes without it. I scramble so much to get every word down, that I'd end up missing A LOT, but knowing that I have the pen recording everything for me makes me feel a lot more relaxed, so I actually end up taking better notes. Based on the way I learn best, getting to hear the instructors own words over and over is really helpful. I would DEFINITELY recommend it. On a scale of 1-10...absolutely 10!

Bon Secours Fall 09
I didn't think the program was difficult, and since I kept up with the reading, I did very well on all of the tests. I felt like I was really prepared for boards. My clinical instructor was AWESOME, so helpful and she really loves teaching. The boards weren't bad, the worst part was just waiting for the day to get there, and as long as you practice the skills outside of class on family members, and actually do them right when you're in clinical, you'll do fine on the boards.

I may work as a CNA during school, but haven't gotten a job yet since I was taking classes this summer. I was just letting you know that I don't have experience as a paid CNA yet, just that I had taken the class :)

Bon Secours Fall 09
I completed the CNA program at JSR in March, just to make sure i was making the right decision about applying to nursing school. I haven't used my certification in working since i decided i was going to apply directly to RN school and i wanted to take some classes to lighten my course load in the fall, but I think the experience was really helpful in getting myself back into the swing of studying and taking in the information and using it in clinical. I learned a lot, and got used to interacting with patients at the nursing home, so i would definitely recommend the class!

Clinical Kit supplies????
Well I don't start nursing classes until September, but as a new student I'd love to get a little list from my instructor on something like..."Top ten things I wish someone had told me before I started nursing school." Or something else cute that might them relax and feel a little less anxious about what to expect. Especially if a student earned it as a prize, it would seem even more special :)

Bon Secours Fall 09
Well there's scheduling classes with an advisor, signing up for non-nursing classes at JSR, getting the picture taken for the ID badge at Memorial Regional, having the student health assessment done, being fingerprinted at a police station and sending the info off somewhere, filling out the other background check forms and having them notarized, and reserving a spot at one of the orientations in August. For myself, I'll need to complete the health care providers BLS class since I haven't done that yet. There may be something i'm missing because i don't have the folder in front of me. It all seemed like a lot when looking at the packet the first time, but its nothing compared to what we'll be facing once its all done and we start classes, haha. I there are different timelines for specific things that you have to do, but EVERYTHING has to be done by August 21 or they drop you from classes. eek. I hope you hear great news very soon!

Bon Secours Fall 09
So the new student orientation packet came in the mail on friday, and it looks like there's a lot to get done before school starts, including that expensive health assessment. Still excited to start though :)

Bon Secours Fall 09
I was accepted for this fall, and I graduated from JMU with a BA in the spring of last year. I didn't need many sciences with my degree, (I'm just this summer taking a&p I) so I'm not sure how large of a factor my college gpa was in my getting in, but I'm still not sure exactly what they favor more when determining someone's acceptance. I did ok on my teas, 97.5 on reading, 68.9-math, 87.6-science, 89.1-english. I'm sure you have a great chance at getting in!

How do you all think your teas went this morning?

Bon Secours Fall 09
This thread is specific to the Bon Secours program in Richmond, and i'm not sure if there are any other programs through Bon Secours in other states. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Bon Secours Fall 09
After reading posts by people who were accepted to other schools for the fall semester, i took one of their ideas, and thought maybe after more acceptance letters go out, those of us who want to can get together to get coffee one day before school starts and we're all swamped with homework. That way we can get to know each other, and get a head start on forming study groups!

Ok, thanks! I have some classes that will (hopefully) transfer over from my BA, but I didn't need very many sciences for my major so I'll be taking those along with my nursing courses, and i was just wondering if other people planned on doing that as well. I agree with you Helen, I wish they'd let us know soon what the next step is. Have you already done the basic life support class?

Are those of you who applied already done with non-nursing courses (a&p, math elective, sociology, micro, etc) are are you going to be taking them with your other classes WHEN you get in?

I received my acceptance letter about 3 weeks after everything was turned in. Good luck to those of you taking your teas test tomorrow!!!!!
