BON - Pending Case Review?

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hello. I am probably being a little melodramatic here, but please bare with me ?

I took my NCLEX last Wednesday, so 5 days ago. I can not afford to look at my quick results (yes, I am broke broke), but I did the Pearson Vue Trick and received the good pop-up... 3 times. So now I have been checking my Board of Nursing to see if they have activated my license. They have not. I did notice something new though, my case went from showing "Pending" to showing "Pending Case Review".

My question is, what does "pending case review" mean? Is it as simple as they are finalizing my NCLEX results to get my license number? Or has something bad happened and they have to look deeper into my case? Like did my computer say pass, but they are taking a closer look at it because I didn't pass high enough? Is it common for a case to change from pending to pending case review?

Perhaps I am just freaking out over nothing. I'm going crazy waiting for my results. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

Did you try emailing them to ask? I find calling gets you nowhere but emailing seems to be better. I am licensed in 2 states and have much better luck with getting responses that way.

Good Luck!

Did you have any legal stuff in your past? Might be a review by the BON before granting your license.

Yes I did, but my records are expunged.

Have you called the BON and asked what they are reviewing?

No I haven’t. I contacted my DON from school who took a look at my case and informed me this is a pretty common message that happens frequently and I should have an answer about my case here soon.

How long did it take you to take NCLEX? Sometimes, if you test what they feel may be too quickly, they'll review your exam & NCLEX footage to make sure there wasn't anything unusual when you took the test.

Did you still submit that documentation and check "yes"? They have access to expunged records in their background checks. The BON even has access to Article 15s from military service and counts that as a "legal history." They have held up granted a license to applicants in the past over this same issue until they were satisfied with the explanation regarding expunged/sealed legal histories.

I believe it took me about an hour and 20minutes? I’m not sure. It stopped at 75 questions, and that was what I was worried about.

Hello everyone. Thank you so much for all of your help. It was your suggestions which helped me understand why my license was being held up. If you have a criminal conviction, do not say you do not ?‍♀️ Expungement must be reported to the board of nursing. I did not realize this (this is actually a common error). It’s been sorted out thankfully, but it was a nerve wracking week.
