ive been looking into the boces lpn program for september. I want to do the full time day program? how hard is it? is it really stressful? any other information would be great

You will need three letters of recommendation, which will be mailed back to Boces after the interview ( I think they might have specific forms to be filled out ). If they have you meet with financial aid after the interview that's a good sign. The hospitals we go to for our rotations are: Good Samaritan, SouthSide, Brookhaven, Mather, and (St. Charles ?). Today will be my first day!!! Again, I wish you the best of luck. I know how hard the waiting is.

GOOD LUCK with rotations. Thanks so much for the info on the recommendations. It is good to know. have a good day, (you are up early!)

how did it go!!!!??? ;) good i hope. I have tons of questions but won't bug you with them now. Have a good weekend.

I am going to start this in Sept. If its the same books, Im going to ask you ladies to sell me your second hand books :)

A lot of the LPNs I work with are BOCES graduates. They turn out excellent nurses.

Hi,

I'm currently enrolled at Eastern Suffolk Boces in their full-time program. I began the program Aug 31, 2009 and will be graduating in July of 2010. When I took the test it was mid April (the last test date) and I heard back about a month later. I'm not sure but I think they begin notification when all the tests have been given, but I could be wrong. As for the interview they will give you information regarding what you need to bring, ie: high school/college transcripts, copy of social security card, and so on. It's an intense program that leaves very little time for anything else, but I'm enjoying every minute of it. I waited a long time for this opportunity, so it's all worth it!!! I just began the second level and we are starting our clinical rotations ( I'm not sure if I'm more excited or nervous). I wish you lots of luck.

I was in your shoes this time last year. I was in Full time day also. I loved every second of it. If you commit yourself, and have some patience you will succeed. Also I'm sure you've noticed the instructors are hawks during tests .. stay out of the cheaters circle.. don't sit near them and cover your papers during the test!

Know your pharm too! Pharm will either make you or break you. I was good with pharm so when the exit exam came in the last week, I didn't stress too much about studying for it. I reviewed what Mrs L(best instructor ever I'm sure you have her!) told us and that was it and I passed.

Med-Surg is alot to swallow in 12 weeks. Best of luck to you!

I am a Graduate of the BOCES LPN program in New York ( grad 1976) I attended during my junior and senoir year of high school. I feel like I got a great education. I am sure alot has changed since then but I was very prepared when i graduated. Good LUck!

ps I went to W Trespar Clarke in Westbury, New York

 HI everyone - I just started the application process for Eastern Suffolk BOCES for September 2010. Has anyone else applied? I took the test last week on the 12th - I am actually living in Switzerland right now but I am planning to move back to Long Island if I get accepted. So would love to hear from anyone also involved in this process:o. Did anyone attend the program for 2009? Can anyone tell me what the other application requirements are besides the interview? Also I am just wondering when I can expect to get my test results, etc. if anyone has any CLUES! THANKS!

Hi I took the Eastern Suffolk Boces test in jan and my interview is in march. im so excited. Cant wait till sept. im a little nervous about the interview process. Welcome back to the States. you should get your results within 2-3 weeks. Pray you did well. Hope we can be study partners!!!!!

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum. I am scheduled to take the LPN entrance exam at Eastern Suffolk BOCES next Monday (March 1st)...I am nervous! I have a BS in Finance but am changing careers to do something I think I will love. MY sister and a few of my cousins are all RNs and can't say enough about how much they love working in health care. I have been using an LPN entrance exam study guide to study for the past few weeks....but what else can I expect....is it super hard??!

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

So sorry to not have responded sooner - how are you all doing with the waiting to see if we are accepted???? I am finding it excruciating! I hope we all make it and can meet at Eastern Suffolk BOCES - if I am accepted I will be there for the orientation in June. Praying and keeping fingers crossed for us all!!!! :redpinkhe Here's to making dreams come true!!!:);):nurse:
