Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi , Creating this thread for anyone applying for Spring 2021 at BMCC . I didn’t get in last round so will plan to sit the HESI in December hopefully . Not sure what my PCI is but I got A’s in everything except AP1 which I got a B in . Please share tips or info so we can help each other . I’m in my 40’s and I’ve young kids so this is definitely a career change for me !

Great thank you

Hi everyone, I just got accepted to Fall semester 2021. I just want to ask, how’s the clinical works? I heard some days are doing virtual and some days are in person, due to pandemic. Thanks in advance!

Hi Venu05, congratulations! If clinicals are going to be the same as last semester then you can expect the following:

The first five clinicals will be in person, on campus at BMCC. You’ll be practicing bed making, transferring a patient from a bed to a wheelchair and vice versa, medication administration, and wound care. There was a COVID outbreak in our group so we ended up having to go virtual a lot sooner than expected. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to your cohort!
After that all went down, they moved us to virtual clinicals with three in-person clinicals at the hospital. Last semester the hospitals were Kings County in Brooklyn and Henry J Carter in Manhattan. They assigned us according to our addresses although a handful of people had clinicals at BOTH places.

The virtual clinicals are easy but tedious. You’re expected to log onto Zoom and go over the process with your Professor, then log back in at a designated time to debrief. Virtual clinicals would start at 8 AM on Zoom and depending on the Professor, they would end between 1 PM and 3 PM.

Keep in mind though that the situation with COVID is ever-evolving so the arrangement for Fall 2021 may be different for your class. This was a challenging semester but you can find solace in the fact that the professors REALLY care about our success and the quality of our education.

If you have any more questions feel free to comment again or PM me and id be happy to help!

I got 3.7 GPA and 80 in HESI

Hey beautiful ones! I AM SUPER PROUD OF YOU WARRIORS FOR STICKING IT OUT‼️‼️??❤️ I am in the same situation however I’m in my 20’s and I have a little one. AGE DOESN’T MATTER YOUR LEVEL OF DETERMINATION, WILL, AND AMBITION DOES! I was a transfer student (transferred to BMCC Fall of 2018) I received an A in MAT 104, B in AP1, B- in AP2, A- in CHEM 121, B- in ENG (I took 10 years ago), and an A in PSY 100. This was my second time getting rejected (for Spring 2020 and FALL 2020) I failed the Kaplan last year and this year my GPA didn’t qualify me a spot but my bestie got in PRAISE GOD ????❤️❤️❤️????????!!

Those science grades weigh heavier than any other class literally and figuratively speaking. The science grades are 4 credits courses and the other pre-reqs are only 3 credit courses. Due to the competitive nature of 99.9% Nursing programs they set the bar high. Cumulative GPA matters as much as Science GPA.

I made the semi tough decision to retake 3 science courses this semester at BMCC. I am retaking AP1, AP2, and CHEM 122 (I took it this Summer and received a C-). Fortunately I officially graduated last month yay!!??? However I’m torn between starting at a new school (I applied in Feb and was accepted in March) or staying with BMCC to see if I could get into the Spring 2021 program. I leaning more toward leaving to start the Bachelors program at the new school. Every other subject I have an A or A- from BMCC.

Have you ladies decided which next step you’re going to take for the FALL and Spring SEMESTER? What will you do different this semester to change or increase your chances for getting next go round?

Hello, what nursing school were u accepted to?

Can anyone help, taking the HESI A2 in 8 days and wanted to know any tips/tricks? What did you study to pass? Please help ? Thanks!

Nice, how did you do?

Hey! wanted to find out, for the white shoes for guys, what kind can I get? Was looking into the Nike Pulse Nurse Shoes,  Can it be any kind of white leather shoe?

I’m currently a student. BMCC has a weird fixation with shoes for clinical. They have to be completely white and cannot be sneakers or have obvious markings on them, like logos. Some people wear the leather/vans slip on type and nobody complained so far. Most students have some type of rubber shoe, like crocs (without holes and covered all the way in the back). Hope this helps

They will bully you re the shoes. I had black leather clogs and wasn’t able to wear them during the first semester. I bought a pair of white rubber/foam $12 “nurse shoes/clogs” from eBay. Don’t waste your money, just go to eBay and you’ll find them there.
