Hi all! It's been busy, sorry I haven't checked in.
So, I hear the "blood drive day" is coming up at school. The last time that happened, I couldn't tell you how many kids came to the office because they had donated blood and were now feeling sick, weak, or had a headache.
Any advice on how to handle it this year?

Are they not providing water and snacks for them? Our National Honor Society is the sponsor fo the blood drive and they have snacks and fluids there for the kids.

Same. We had a blood drive at my school at the beginning of this year and I didn't see a single student or staff because of it. It was lovely!

They usually provide snacks and water and juice and triage the kids prior to sending them back. That being said, I had 3 really sick kids this year.
I don't know that there is really anything to do, except have extra water, juice or snacks on hand.

Water, Gatorade, and a light snack are provided by my bloodmobile. Of course, the bloodmobile doesn't refuse a teenager who didn't have breakfast (or the teens are mis-truthing their breakfast or lunch experience).'
There's really not much we can do. I provided education to the sponsor and last year I think I even gave out water while they were waiting.... but a kid passed out while WAITING to give. Hang in there.

You could call in sick for that day.
They would have our heads for that.
Imagine a teacher dealing with a faint kid?

Now that's good advice!
I will find out who is sponsoring it and be sure there are snacks. Thank you all so much!
