Blast from the past...

So, yours truly is of an age where the original Power Rangers was her must-see TV in her preteen years. And because I've been stressed and needing a bit of 90's nostalgia, I've been re-watching the series...it's cheerfully mindless entertainment, if nothing else. Though, clearly, Preteen Me did not have the same standards regarding production quality in television entertainment.

When looking at reviews from other adults doing the same thing of the latest episode, I saw the following still image, and I had to laugh at how familiar this feels to Adult Me:

I was 8 or 9 when the first Power Rangers movie came out in theaters. I was so excited to go see it and made my mom buy advanced tickets because I was SO CERTAIN that the movie would sell out.

Back then, my mom struggled to pay the bills so we would sneak our homemade snacks in. What a reminder of a good time... ☺️

My daughter was Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Back in my day [the 70's and 80's] we had 3 TV channels, 4 if you could pick up the PBS station after moving the rabbit ears around a little bit. Mostly because we didn't have a ton of choices everybody watched the same things. I liked Love Boat, Fantasy Island and the Brady Bunch. Favorite medical show was Dr Quincy, MD and MASH is still my all time favorite show.

I'm in the same age range, I'm guessing. I liked those shows, but loved watching Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, and St Elsewhere...

I have a great collection of Power Rangers memorabilia. I have re watched many of the season of the show. They are all very corny and I think that it’s part of their charm. In my opinion, they are so outlandishly corny that it’s what actually makes it funny and whimsical. I think it’s great to revisit things from our childhood. MMPR is always going to hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for sharing

Yes, St. Elsewhere. I was this young Filipino kid who barely understood English yet was completely fascinated by the apparent drama and chaos in that hospital show that predated ER and Gray’s Anatomy. May have been one of the reasons I went into healthcare.

For whatever reason I never really got into St Elsewhere but I loved Chicago Hope. A little earlier show that was great is China Beach, the primary characters were nurses in a war zone. It was groundbreaking in that the majority of major character's were women. Sadly it's not available to stream anywhere and the only DVD copies seem to be bootlegs. I believe the hold up was getting the music rights cleared and now it's been so long that since it's been out that releasing it probably wouldn't be profitable enough for it to happen.
