Biopsy and Ablation the week before school starts???

I've had two uterine biopsies and they were not bad at all. I was down a day...regular activities the day after. Mild cramping afterwards but nothing that ibuprophen didn't take care of. As far as the ablation....don't know. I should have had it done but have not. I've had 2 friends have it done...they said it wasn't bad. One was down for 2 days...the other for like 1. But you do have some weight lifting limits afterwards. Hope this helps!

I think you will be fine. The discharge after an ablation is not blood it is much more serous...this is a burn after all, not a period. I had mine on Friday and went back to work (12 hour shift on the floor in a hospital) on Monday. It really is not painful after the first day, and that is just from cramping. Good luck and hope your ablation is as successful as mine was!

I had the ablation done about a week before I started nursing school last year. It was no problem at all. I rested on the couch the day of the procedure, was up and around the house the next day, and totally normal by day 3. The discharge was very light for me. Very minimal cramping after. Are you having Novasure in the Dr. office?

Also, having it was the greatest decision ever!!! I could not have dealt with all that during school. The procedure itself is super easy, too.

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease!!! I am having biopsy, very reluctantly in office. He gave me 5mg of Valium and tld me to take a norco. The ablation is under general and not sure which I am doing. I hate being put under but hate being awake for procedures! I am a big ole baby!! :coollook:

I had no meds for the biopsy and was perfectly normal after. I did not have a general for the ablation either. It was painful for about 45 seconds, literally. You have a cervical block. I would stay awake!! Plus, you 're going to be a nursing student, you can watch sterile technique, lol.

Had an ablation 2 years ago and had very light, pinkish spotting and literally just spent the rest of the day in bed (nausea from either the meds or procedure) and the next day it was as if nothing happened and I went for a 5 mile run. I love my white scrub pants unlike the rest of my female cohorts.

I will say that the valium was the highlight of my procedure. Had never experienced such a sense of absolutely zero anxiety.

The biopsy is not bad...really. About 45 seconds of being uncomfortable. Having valium you will be very relaxed. I had the first one with...second one without. Do some relaxation breathing...in through your nose...out slow through your mouth. It will be over quickly! :heartbeat

I've had 2 friends from work who had an ablation on a friday and was back to work Monday with no problems for either of them.

I had this done in January. My biopsy was uncomfortable and I'm glad I made my husband drive me to the appointment as I was a bit light-headed afterwards. The cramping was nothing that 800 mg ibuprofen, a heating pad and a nap couldn't fix.

I had a laproscopic tubal ligation along with the ablation. I think most of my recovery was actually from that procedure. I was teaching preschool at the time and was back to work in 2 days. Given your time frame, I think you'll be fine.

I am scheduled to have a uterine biopsy next thursday and an ablation the following tues. For those that have had the procedure, was it quick recovery? I am told I will be down for a day and fine after. I sure don't want to start nursing school sick however I also don't want to miss due to menstruation issues which would be no fun in a white uniform. Sorry for tmi, looking for experiences so I can weigh my decision with a clear head.

I had this same procedure done under general anesthesia and I was shocked at how fast the recovery was.

I never even took a Tylenol.
