BIO202 during Summer I

Hi,

I'm registering for BIO202 at Mesa Community College during Summer I. I've never taken an accelerated or in-person class before. The class only lasts four weeks but the class meets four days/week from 10am until 3pm.

Has anyone ever done this before? How did you like it? Do you think it's possible to do well in this class? I have good grades and am a pretty fast learner. I'm used to reading a lot on my own because I'm used to online classes. I'm also not taking any other classes beside BIO202. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

I think you'll do fine if you are only taking that one course and it is in person. They do tend to be easier. But you have to cover a lot of organ systems in a VERY short period of time.

I took both 201/202 during summer, in person at ASU and found them very difficult. The pace was frantic w/o alot of down time and i withdrew during the last week of 202 because i wasn't happy with my failing performance (granted i was also taking human development/hcr 230 as well). My advice:

-do ALL of the reading

-be dedicated to the class

-don't fall behind

-use websites and other mediums to learn

realize that the information put out in these classes WILL be seen again, don't undervalue the importance of understanding the fundamentals

Ummmm, I barely skated by (by the hair of my chinny chin chin) doing this course as a summer class and that was years ago (from what I've heard it has not changed AT ALL). I was much younger then and thought summers was for partying and hanging out - hence why I barely earned a C in the summer courses. Like Cursed stated, you have to be completely dedicated and focused on it to do well. Good luck!

Hey, be bold...go for it. You will figure out right away if it is doable for you. If not, you can withdraw. I recommend you find out what book you will be using, buy it, and start reading now. This info is the basis for pretty much everything else you will learn later, so the better you know it, the better off you'll be down the road. Good luck. :yeah:

I took Bio202 online through Central AZ college last summer. It was an EXCELLENT course that was straight forward and not too difficult. I would recommend it. Best of luck to you!

hey,

Im gonna take Bio202 in Summer I, which is 6 weeks course at Phoenix College.

I thought about taking Bio205(microbio) concurrently, but I decided not to. teacher said its an crazy idea. she also said she won't reduce any assignments, quizzes, project work, etc. you'll do the same amount of study as regular 16week-long semesters. like 201, its not very difficult, its just time consuming.

so, Im not worried much. I'm just not gonna work 6 days a week.

Im sure you will do fine.

I am taking Bio 156 summer I and Bio 201 Summer II. I have never taken a summer Bio class so I can't offer anyfeed back there. Just wanted to wish everyone luck on taking their summer Bio classes.

The professor who teaches that over the summer in the morning I hear is great. I love PC teachers but Glendale is just closer to me and with my family needs over the summer it just works out better to go to GCC. And plus I can get financial aid from GCC so that's always a motivator :-). I will be back at PC in the Fall though. Good luck if you do take it.
