Binghamton BAT 2021-2022

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! Just starting a thread for this cycle's BAT/ABSN program at Binghamton that's starting next Summer 2021. I've just submitted the SUNY transfer app, but holding off on submitting the actual BAT app for a little while longer. Hoping we can use this thread to talk about the program and post questions like years prior! The deadline isn't until November so it's still way early, but having the thread ready to go doesn't hurt. I'm also applying to Buffalo and Brockport so I'll likely be active in those threads as well! ?

Yes I am trying to complete as soon as possible! I believe we gotta finish all prerequisites before the program starts so yeah

The Nursing elective isn’t a prerequisite requirement. We’d normally take it during our very last semester in the program but they give us the option to take it beforehand too if we want to. But it’s not a requirement for admission!

wow I didn't know that! I would def take it before because it's cheaper and I can relax more at the end! but first they gotta accept me ?

Unless you’re taking all your courses as a full time student, it would be cheaper to take it at Binghamton because even if you don’t take it in the program you’ll still be paying the same amount for tuition. Once you’re a full time enrolled student (12 credits minimum), you pay the same amount whether you’re taking 12 credits or 19 credits. So the price wouldn’t drop if you already did the Nursing elective outside because even without it, you’d still be a full time student at Binghamton that semester!

thanks for letting me know! I didn't know that! I surely hope to get into either Binghamton or other sunys, otherwise I can't afford private schools!

Which schools did you apply to other than Bing?

by the way, what other schools did you apply to? Do you know any other affordable schools other than sunys?

I applied to Stony Brook, UB, and Binghamton. I spent my first year at Brockport and I was not a fan so I didn’t even bother applying there because I knew I wouldn’t want to go back there again. And I was accepted into Villanova’s ABSN program this week, so that’s my backup! What about you?

Is Villanova a good and affordable school? I might look into that! I also applied to the schools you applied to plus Brockport haha!

Yeah I heard the Nursing program is good at Brockport, but I just personally didn’t have a good experience there my Freshman year and don’t really want to go back if you know what I mean! And it’s about $50,000 for Villanova’s program, it’s still significantly more expensive than SUNY schools but less than other private schools I’ve seen so I could swing it if I had to, so I applied to it as a backup option!

aww I see! I am desperate to not go into debt so I am happy to go to any SUNYs haha! Also did you considered direct entry MSN programs?

I looked at some but I didn’t apply to any because I just want to get done with my nursing and start working. Then after gaining some experience, I want to get my Masters to become a NP. Plus for those direct MSN programs you have to choose which track you want to go into right from the get go and I want time to make that decision!

I’m also applying to a few schools in Mass in December if I don’t get into any of the SUNYs for whatever reason. The UMass schools are reasonably priced (compared to most private and out-of-state schools). I really am not looking to spend more than around $40k or so on tuition if I can help it. I’m much thriftier on tuition prices this time around ?

does anyone know if its necessary/do they care if we provide recommendations?  I don't think they asked for them
