Not since the Eisenhower Plan and NASA US moonshot has a giant plan been launched to improve the Untied States.
C-SPAN Video 3/31/21
President Biden traveled to Pittsburgh to announce his $2 trillion infrastructure and jobs proposal, known as the American Jobs Plan.
The plan has four parts, all of which will affect our everyday lives.
I've been involved with PA's Home and Community-Based Care Services (HCBS) for older Americans for 25 years, prior years known as Options and Wavier programs --all with wait lists often 3- 6 months in the 5 county Philadelphia area. These programs provide services to keep Seniors OUT of a nursing home.
Per the ARC, the intellectual disability advocate association, today there are currently over 500,000 people with disabilities on waiting lists for home and community-based long term services and supports --the wait can be as long as 8-10 years in some states.
In January 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new rule to ensure that individuals receiving long-term services and supports through HCBS programs under Medicaid have full access to benefits of community living, the opportunity to receive services in the most integrated setting appropriate to enhance the quality of HCBS, and provide protections to participants. PA implemented their approved program in 2017 merging all programs together. with greater access to services. Wait lists have decreased, but still exist.
President Biden's increased focus on this type of care and $400 Billion allocation will help in reducing and hopefully eliminating wait lists in most states. Now onto educating our legislators of this need.

Quote ..It is not however, just a jobs plan. It is also a growth plan. Investing in infrastructure increases productivity and attracts additional investment. Economists with S&P estimated that Biden's plans (including a $1 trillion American Families Plan he said he'd announce in a few weeks) could inject $5.7 trillion into the U.S. economy and raise per capita income by $2,400.... ...Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has already warned the president not to turn the program into “a massive effort to raise taxes on businesses and individuals.” What he doesn't say is that the new tax revenue would largely replace the estimated $2 trillion the U.S. Treasury lost as a result of the GOP passed tax cuts for the rich program in 2017. He doesn’t want to acknowledge the $4.1 in additional debt he and Trump racked up even before the pandemic began. Biden, meanwhile, says he will pay for his plan and reduce debt over the long haul.

I rather enjoy the way the messaging is designed in the daily press briefings. When asked about the Republican complaint with the tax plan to pay for the investments the question was simply reversed...how do republicans want to pay for the necessary investments, or are they suggesting that there should be no plan to pay for the needed expenditures?
When a majority of conservative Americans approve of legislation but their political leadership does not and will actually try to sabotage what will help them, there's a dangerous problem. The RNC keeps them entertained with clowns and carnival games while the pick pockets work the enthralled crowd. They even have the guy that wants to guess your weight...or maybe your age.

Ran across this article in today's internet wanderings. Biden is meeting with Republicans tomorrow @ the White House
Quote Republicans are making a risky bet by opposing Biden’s infrastructure plan. With their opposition to President Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan, Republicans are doubling down on a core bet they’ve made for his presidency: that the GOP can maintain support among its key constituencies while fighting programs that would provide those voters with tangible economic assistance.... ...Biden “is going to be disappointed” in how GOP-leaning constituencies react to these programs, David Kochel, a veteran Republican consultant based in Iowa, told me. “All of the negative partisanship and cultural motivation is going to be out of his control, and Republicans and the conservative-media machine [are] going to continue to fill” GOP voters’ heads “with all of these left-wing priorities” that are part of these packages. Both plans “are so big, there is so much in there, they will be a target-rich environment,” Kochel continued. “And voters will be able to rationalize that ‘I did like getting this new bridge, but I don’t like that we had to spend $2 trillion to get it.’”...

The GOP didn't expect the American public to learn to like the ACA either. In that instance, the effort to educate the public and garner support was tepid compared to Biden's communication plan. That leads me to believe that public support will increase, not decrease, for this expansive and optimistic legislation. As the specifics and details of this proposal are discussed by the cabinet, the fear mongering and misrepresentations of the Republican politicians will be revealed as hollow and partisan. As republican leadership struggle to throw together some semblance of a counter proposal for legislation the lack of new ideas will become evident.
As is obvious everytime republicans gather or speak; their focus is not policy it's fault finding, fear mongering and Trump's big lie.

True, the GOP's ideas for the past century have been unpopular and only in favor of the super rich. Hate and division is the only way they think they can win public discourse and with policies that are anti-American. This time, however, they will not win.
President Biden with the support of the DNC is doing right by countering the narrative with truth. The problem with the ACA was that former President Obama did not take a victory lap because he had hoped that Republican were pro-America and for Americans compared to being selfish power hungry dictators. He made a mistake that President Biden is not making. The GOP are being called out for the party of NO and they are being called out for their no votes against popular legislation backed by Democrats. May their careers in politics go to down with Trump.
Biden supporting and expanding at home caregiver services for the disabled and elderly under Home and Community Based Services, increased $$ pay and benefits for personal care assistants/direct care workers. These caregivers allow persons to age at home instead of nursing home and institutions.
