Best TCC teachers?

Published

Hi all!!!

I am needing to take A&P2 at TCC this summer. Can anyone give me a tip on who the best teachers are to take it from? Any input would be great!!! Thanks!

I took A&P I and II over the summer with Dr. Vu at the Southeast campus. It was a tremendous amount of work, and he is very tough, but I felt well prepared when I went to nursing school. I will be finishing the nursing program at TCC in May, and I still stay in contact with Dr. Vu. He is a wonderful professor. I know there are people who will say not to take him because he is too hard, but most of those people are just trying to take the easiest classes/professors that they can take so that they can have their A to get into nursing school. I got A's in both of Dr. Vu's classes, and I learned so much. I have a bachelor's degree, so I have had a lot of college classes. Dr. Vu's class was by far the hardest class I've had (with the exception of Pedi in nursing school), but he is hands down the best professor I have ever had. I'm not sure which campus you want to go to for your class, but I'm sure you can find a great professor at all of them. Also, if you have not taken them yet, I recommend Mr. Matthai at the Northeast campus for Micro and Dr. Patrick at the Northeast campus for Chemistry. Both are wonderful professors. Good luck to you.:wink2:

Take Dr. Adams at the SE campus.....he gives a lot of extra credit 2 take home test and all together there is 6 test so 4 test in class, but I think he ends up giving 3 take home test in summer bc it goes by sooooo quick! I am taking him for A&P 2 right now and my first test is next Friday! He doesn't give a review but everyone says he is really good. look him up on rate my professor John Adams. I would recommend Lorraine Smith she is the best but she is not teaching this summer. Goodluck

I took A&P1 during summer with Dr. Scott at South campus. I also took her in the fall for A&P2. She is a great professor who wants you to succeed. She will know everyones names by the end of the first week, she gives quizes in lab and will help you any way she can.

Dr. Vu vs Dr. Adams,

I was a "Vuer", so was my wife :). We love him! He is by far the best teacher I've ever had, and we still remember his accient, "Is it cute??"( whatever that means!) About Dr. Adams. we've heard his easy, and had "take-home-exams". might be an easy A, I don't know.

One thing that I know though, if you take Dr. Vu, and you try your best in his class, your life will never be the same. :)

I am in A&P I right now and feel so completely lost. I'm not looking for an easy A by any means, I feel that every grade needs to be earned. That being said, I've never really struggled in school before, but A&P is killing me! I don't know if it's my professor or me not grasping the lectures/lab or what. I attend classes at the NE Campus, but am looking to commute to another campus next semester in order to find a better A&P professor. I don't think I'm going to make it through this semester at the rate it's going. I will be doing a lot more research on the professor next time!

Thank you all SOO MUCH for your responses! I'm still not sure which class I'm taking but I'm looking for the best teacher not the easiest. I wanna learn as much as I can. Anywho, you guys are the best!:heartbeat

I took A&P (the second time around!) at the south campus a few years ago. I'm sorry, I don't recall the teacher's name anymore, but I do remember she was a veterinarian. She was hilarious in class, graded fairly, and I enjoyed lab with her. Hopefully someone can put a name to my memory, because she'd be another good one to sign up under, if she is still teaching.

Dr. Adams is by far not easy at all! He does give 2 take home test to your advantage to improve your grade. Its like extra credit, its all or nothing. I just had his lab practical a week ago and he challenges you with trick questions. I like him bc he explains everything and he provides his own notes that you buy at the copy center, its like the book but condensed into all the info you need. I have had several of my peers take Vu, lets just say that he had 9 people drop the first week of class and after his first test which was a week ago he had 5 more drop, this is what one of my friends in lab told me. And his classes are always the last to fill up. I'm just letting you know what my friend said, I personally haven't taken him, so I just know what I heard through the grapevine. Again good luck and keep us updated on who you sign up for :)

I personally liked Mr Barton myself, South Campus....he had a good way of explaining things that made A&P easy to understand. A tough professor, but he also throws a curve out there sometimes as well. I remember him giving us like 12 extra points because he was in good mood after his new baby was born. Very good instructor in my opinion.

Does anyone know of a good instructor at the NW campus for A&P I. I'm taking it in the fall...thanks!!

If you are going to NW campus I took Martinez-Ecchevaria for A&P 1&2, he gives lots of info and advance notice of what to expect on quiz's and test! Took during spring and summer...both are very manageable w/study.

GOOD LUCK! :D
