435,000 would barely buy a tiny 2 bedroom home in my neighborhood in the West Valley, SoCAl. I can't aford MY house if I tried to buy it now!
There are some parts of California that have less expensive homes but not near me. Good luck!

After living in southern California for 24 years, I moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex nearly 5 months ago. My brand new 1860 square foot home in southwest Fort Worth cost $104,000. There's no state income taxes in the state of Texas. I am a new, inexperienced LVN who earns $18.50 per hour at a facility. New RNs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can expect $19 to $22.
The property taxes are expensive, ranging from $2500 to $4500.
nice i've seen that place at the internet the houses are cheap. in long island property taxes range from 4500 to 9000.

NY state is expensive to live in. If hubby didn't have a job as a city firefighter and have all that brotherly love for them, we'd move to NC or TN where cost of living is cheaper and there's a lot more wide open space.

GA isn't bad once you get outside of ATL. We live in Northeast GA and my mom is buying a house for $228,400 w/ 3 bd/2.5ba 2100sq' on a full basement with 1+ acres! Not to shabby here!

In East Texas we consider Dallas an expensive place to live because of the housing. I guess everything is relative. As for weather, very hot in summer but air conditioning makes it tolerable. You can cook out 12 months of the year. There are all kinds of cultural, hobby, sports advantages. Can get to Austin in 3 hours. Intl. Airport. Mountains and coast within driving distance. Career and academic opportunities. And of, course, Sam Moon's shopping.
I moved to Texas 8 years ago and love it.

I know!!! That's mainly why I'm in Georgia, instead of Northern Cali (home)
Re: best place to live
Some would beg to differ. GA isn't bad as long as you stay close to ATL
Although housing prices are increasing here, there are very nice areas cheaper than NY or CALIF
